Magical Spider Chapter 56

Chapter 56 -

"Oh, that is not good, not good at all," Gwen groaned loudly, running her hands over her face.

The group of friends all sat together in the stands of the school football (American Football, yes,) stadium, Gwen was sitting on Harry's right with Peter sitting on the seat behind Harry, meanwhile, Felicia had predictably sat in his lap. Thankfully, there was no one near them right now, so Harry had been able to tell the group exactly what had happened.

"You're telling me," Felicia agreed with a sour look on her face. "Government involvement is not good for us, at all."

"You can say that again," Gwen said, pinching the bridge of her nose.

"That again," Peter chimed in. "You think this Fury guy knows about...well...you know...us?" He said, gesturing to the four of them.

"Probably," Harry nodded sadly. "It's not too big of a leap to make,"

"Oh, well...maybe he's trying to help us," Peter said hopefully. "I mean...he said he wanted you to join and -"

"He broke into my home," Harry cut him off. "Not to mention sitting in my favourite chair. If that's not enough then I found three spy devices in my room, another five in the rest of the apartment. I'm just glad the fucker didn't put any in my parent's room. I don't trust him, not one bit. Even if he is on the side of the angels, that doesn't mean I am not going to get my payback." He said firmly.

"Atta boy," Felicia purred, cuddling against him. "I love it when you get all vengeful,"

"Do not make me pull a hose on you," Gwen warned Felicia who pouted before maturely sticking her tongue out at Gwen who ignored her and turned her attention back to Harry. "Still, are you sure?" She asked. "Fury is a powerful man, he's government."

"I've fought powerful men before, I'm still here," Harry replied. "Besides, I'm not a fan of government." Harry frowned. He could admit that there were obvious benefits to having a government, and he was aware of what would happen without one, but that didn't mean he liked them. A part of him always reminded himself that the only reason he was even in this world was partly because of the incompetence of the magical government of his last world.

As Harry Potter, he had nearly died after being tortured with the worst physical pain one could imagine and seeing a fellow student be killed by the man who killed his parents. After narrowly escaping and coming back to school, half dead and with the completely dead body of one Cedric Diggory, he had told everyone he could about what had happened. Told them how he had just barely survived Voldemort. Then Fudge, the Minister of Magic and basically the most important figure in the magical government, the man who should be doing his best to help the people that he was charged with protecting, the people who elected him and put their faith in him, decided to shove his double-chinned head into the nearest pile of sand. He refused to believe Harry, even when he was backed by Dumbledore and Snape of all people, then he called Harry crazy and said he was an attention seeker. He was convinced that Harry - the most famous boy in the world - was lying for fame and attention. He was so sure that it was nothing more than that, for him it was a fact.

He hadn't even investigated it.

Because of Fudge, the country was divided between people who believed Voldemort was back and the majority of people who agreed with Fudge. Voldemort had more than a year of free reign to operate without opposition, the government wasn't doing anything, the only people who did was Dumbledore and his illegal vigilante group, and even they weren't much help. Looking back on his life, Harry wasn't as fond of Dumbledore as he used to be. It probably didn't help matters that the old man had basically ignored him for a whole year and that if he simply talked with Harry then maybe things could have gone differently. His feelings towards Dumbledore had definitely changed, he no longer worshipped the old man and he can now see how many mistakes the man has made, and how many things he could have done differently. He also remembered one thing, Dumbledore had at one point been the most powerful individual in the world, not just magically but also politically. Between his reputation, his multiple jobs and his political power, it was entirely possible for Dumbledore to have done much more before Fudge took those positions away.

At the start of Harry's fifth year, he had the unfortunate 'pleasure' of meeting Dolores Jane Umbridge (most commonly referred to as 'Umbitch', a lessor spotted member of the 'dumb cunts' species of toad), who had been sent by Fudge to basically torment and watch Harry. The man in charge of the government had basically sent his right hand all the way to Harry's school to silence him, if that wasn't enough to shake his faith in the government then she also decided to use that opportunity to torture him with blood quills. He wasn't sure if she did so with Fudge's consent or not, but he didn't care, the fact that that horrid (Um)bitch had even taken a single foot inside of Hogwarts was enough for Harry. He couldn't trust the ministry and by then he knew that without any doubt.

It was an open secret at the time that Fudge was in Malfoy's pocket, the greedy little coward followed after Lucius Malfoy like a dog and did whatever the man said in order to fill up his pockets. Most everyone in the wizarding world knew that Malfoy and several other 'esteemed' members of society had bribed their way out of jail after the last war ended. Fudge had refused to believe that the men were the ones who had joined Voldemort in that graveyard, why would he? That meant that he'd have several fewer 'donations' and he'd be forced to man up and accept that Voldemort was back.

The man in charge of the government was a little coward, one that had doomed them all.

Would Harry have ever ended up in the 'Department of Mysteries if Dumbledore, Fudge and all of the others had simply done their jobs? At least partly because of them, Harry and his friends had ended up in that room, Harry spent more than a few sleepless nights wondering what had happened to them. Had Neville who was just starting to come into his own been struck down? Would Luna, a lovely girl who was admittedly a bit weird but had a heart of gold, ever grow old and have kids? What about Ron and Hermione? His best friends, what had happened to them? Would Hermione ever grow up and get a fancy job? Would Ron ever see his favourite team win a quidditch cup?

Or had they all been cut down by Voldemort?

"Harry!" Gwen snapped her fingers in front of him, he blinked and saw all of his friends looking at him with concern. "Your eyes!"

"Huh?" He asked intelligently.

"They're red," Felicia told him. "And while I do find it hot, it's starting to worry me now," She said, sounding worried. Harry blinked once more before closing his eyes, he took several deep breaths and opened his eyes once more.

"Better?" He asked and received three nods.

"What was that about?" Peter frowned.

"Bad memories," He said in a gruff voice before shaking his head. "Back to the important matter, I don't trust Fury and I'm going to teach him one way or another not to mess with me."

"Do you have a plan?" Gwen asked, knowing better than to try and talk him out of it.

"Not yet," Harry admitted. "I got to find out more before getting to that, at the moment I'm working on setting up some protections for my house."

"What kind of protections?"

"The magical kind," Harry said with a grin before his back buzzed and a book shot out of it and landed in his hands.

"Wait, is that the book that the Ancient One gave you?!" Peter demanded.

"Wait, what?" Felicia blinked. "Ancient One?"

"Yes, and I'll tell you later," Harry replied. "My spider pal holds it for me, that's why Fury never found it, so I'm hopeful he doesn't know about my magic."

"So what? He's like a 'bag of holding'?"

"He is much better than a 'bag of holding'," Harry said in a slightly offended voice. "Though he refuses to hold most items, just magical and/or spider-related stuff." He added with a shrug.

"Really want to know about this 'Ancient One' business," Felicia said in a faux quiet voice.

"I'm going to be using this to help me put up magical protections around my home," Harry said, giving the book a gentle shake. "I'll do it for all of you guys as well if you want."

"We need to look for cameras as well," Gwen said suddenly. "If they put them in your home then they might do it in ours."

"Oh shit!" Peter gasped. "That's creepy!" He blurted out, earning three agreeing nods.

"Like I said, I want to find out more about them before I do anything," Harry replied.

"And just how do you plan to do that?" Felicia asked. "Is this Ancient One person going to be helping?"

"There is a ritual that I would like to try," Harry said with a wicked grin.

".......With the Ancient One?"

(.)

"Fury, I'm here," Harry called, stepping into what appeared to be an old abandoned factory near a dock. He walked into the old factory, ignoring all the rusted machinery and the hundred layers of dust everywhere. He spotted Fury, sitting in a plain chair in front of an old-looking table, standing next to him on his right was a brown-haired woman, she likely would have been much more attractive if her expression didn't remind him of Professor McGonagall when she caught someone misbehaving. Her hair - much like Professor McGonagall's - was tied into a tight bun. She wore a blue form-fitting bodysuit with a logo on her shoulders that looked like an eagle, along with that she also had a gun holster at her hip, complete with a matching gun.

On the other side of Fury was a mild-looking man dressed in a simple black suit with a pair of sunglasses. He had a welcoming smile on his face, looking like he genuinely was happy to see Harry here, a clear contrast to the other woman. Meanwhile, sitting in between them and sipping something from a thermos, was Fury who was dressed exactly like he had been the previous time Harry had seen him.

Harry on the other hand looked fairly underdressed compared to the three of them, wearing red and black trainers, black jeans, a green shirt and an open black hoodie plus a pair of sunglasses. Of course, he also had his Spiderman uniform underneath. He stared at the three for a moment, doing his best to pretend he hadn't noticed the twenty other men hiding around the factory with guns. They were good, and if it weren't for his enhanced senses then he probably wouldn't have noticed them.

"Alright Fury? You bald dickhead," Harry said casually, walking towards them. The woman gave him a disapproving look, the other man was amused and Fury didn't even react. "What's this about?"

"Mr Osborn," Fury said, placing his thermos down on the table. "I'd like you to meet my deputy, Maria Hill," He gestured to the woman next to him. "And this is Agent Coulson," He added, gesturing to the other man. "If you join then you may be seeing them plenty,"

"Joy," Harry said dryly. "So...what's this about?" Harry repeated. "You going to blackmail me into becoming your little super-powered toy or something?"

"Believe it or not, Mr Osborn, I have no ill intentions towards you," Fury said, standing up. "If I did then I would have informed you from a far safer distance than this. Now, I want to work with you. You have potential, I've seen it. With the right training, in the right direction, you could be up there with Captain America. But it will take training. It will take dedication. Even Stark didn't start out great, but he got better. That's what we're here for, we want to make you better. Some time with us, you'll be better and far more efficient."

"I think I'm doing fine," Harry replied.

"That's why Fisk is already out of jail and back in his penthouse, is it?" Fury asked, raising an eyebrow. Harry gritted his teeth as he forcibly stopped himself from responding. True to his word, Fisk had barely stayed in jail for more than a day before he was released, even all the news stations were singing his praises like he was an innocent man sent to jail for no reason. All of them, even the bloody Daily Bugle. "Like I said, you want to make a difference? Know how to do it, come with us." He said, turning around and walking away. Hill and Coulson walked after him.

Harry was admittedly tempted to stay still out of spite but decided to follow, he got out of the factory in time to see a large and advanced-looking jet shimmer into view in front of him. The back hatch opened up and a ramp lowered down, Fury and his two sidekicks walked in, not even phased. They sat down and then Fury stared impatiently at him.

"You coming?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Go wax your head,"

(.)

"Oh, I hope this goes well." He whispered to himself.

It had been a while since he had joined Shield, but he still found himself being amazed by everything. Every agent seemed to be in near-perfect sync with each other, they moved about all professionally and efficiently. It was like watching a large nest of ants masquerading as humans. Though then again, ants weren't normally either high up or parked in the water. Right now, they were standing outside on the helicarrier. The helicarrier was 'an aircraft carrier specifically designed to be itself capable of independently powered flight in addition to the standard functions of aircraft carriers and is the world headquarters and signature capital ship of the extra-governmental intelligence/defence agency known as the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division'.

Or so he was told.

Right now, the helicarrier was currently parked on top of a large body of water, he didn't even know where they were. The helicarrier from above would look like a giant landing craft, especially with the many jets currently parked on it. There were four large turbines (two on each side) that moved fast enough to not only lift the damn thing in the air but also they would probably slice to pieces near anything that had the misfortune of going into them. He remembered the dropped jaw look he had when he first saw this place. He took in a deep breath and looked at the others.

Standing on his left was Kate Bishop, a pretty girl with black hair tied into a ponytail. She wore all black with the exception of a purple jacket and sunglasses, not to mention the purple quiver attached to her back. Though the bow she had slung around her shoulder was black. Kate, as far as he knew, was a girl from a rich background like himself, she really wanted to help people and decided to do so with a bow and arrow of all things. Sounds a bit stupid, yes, but make no mistake, the girl was wickedly accurate and surprisingly quick with it. He had heard more than a few people wondering if she was actually 'Hawkeye's kid'.

Next to her was Jimmy Hudson Jr, don't let the name fool you, he was one tough S.O.B. He was the tallest of the group, wearing an outfit that was black and grey, covering all of his body with the exception of his arms which only had black gloves that went up to his forearms and ended just before his elbows. Each glove had three silver, ringed holed on the knuckles, holes that he knew allowed some very sharp metal claws to come out. Jimmy had messy blonde hair and blue eyes, not to mention his canine teeth which were a bit longer and sharper than the average person's. Apparently, Jimmy's dad was some important mutant that Shield worked with before.

Then on his right, there was Ava Ayala, she was currently dressed up in her full costume which was basically a full-body white costume with grey tiger stripes on her sides and shoulders, her mask covered her whole face and had two tiger ears on top, while the eyes of the mask were blank and yellow. He didn't know much about her, she preferred to keep to herself mostly. But the one thing he did know was that she was wickedly smart and had a great memory, the girl had memorised the entire Shield handbook within a day. She was the definition of hard work and discipline, he'd be surprised if she even knew what the words 'give up' meant.

Standing next to her was a dark-skinned boy with blonde hair in a buzz-cut style. He stood there wearing a plain-looking black full-body suit with grey boots, but he was anything but plain. His name was Evan Daniels AKA 'Spike', a mutant much like Jimmy, except his powers were much different. Evans can extend, retract, and fire incredibly dense bone spikes of any size from nearly any point on his body (he had not tried shooting them from his backside, despite numerous people recommending it).

And then there was himself, he stood there, feeling somewhat ridiculous whilst wearing his costume. He wore a body suit that was originally pure black, but he had managed to make some changes. The boots were pure green, as was the belt that he wore. The shoulders and chest were also a matching green that descended down in a 'V' shape to connect to his belt, leaving the sides of his body and his arms black as well. His gloves were also green and he had a black logo on his chest to match his codename. He briefly wondered if he should pull up the mask that was attached to his costume, but Jimmy wasn't wearing the one attached to his so he didn't see why he should.

"Relax, it'll go fine...I hope." Said Kate, sounding somewhat optimistic.

"It better be," Said Ava who preferred to be referred to by her codename, 'White Tiger'. She sounded unusually worried for some reason. "I heard that we were going to meet Harry Osborn, we cannot mess this up!" She said, bouncing on her feet nervously.

"Who the hell's he?" Jimmy asked, raising an eyebrow. Ava spun her head around and faced him, it should be hard to tell what she was thinking because she was wearing a mask, but it was quite clear this time that she thought Jimmy was a world-class idiot.

"Who is he?!" Ava said incredulously. "He's only the son of Norman Osborn! You know? Oscorp?! Ringing any bells?!"

"So he's a rich kid, big deal," Evans snorted.

"It's not about that!" Ava said in a frustrated voice. "He's a certified genius! Not even out of school and he's already inventing things for Oscorp! There's rumours going around that he's invented a new armour that Shield is interested in distributing for its agents."

"Wow," Kate whistled deeply. "Is he hot?" She said, cutting to what she thought was the more important matter.

"Yes," Ava nodded matter-of-factly.

"Why's he even coming here anyway?" Evans wondered.

"You can ask him yourself. Looks like he's here," Jimmy said, pointing to the jet which was flying over. A minute later, it had landed and the people inside started walking out. First, there was Fury, followed by Hill and Coulson and then a couple more agents. And then he came out.

Wearing your standard normal clothes, he walked calmly down the ramp with the wind blowing through his messy black hair. He heard Kate comment about how Ava was right regarding Osborn's attractiveness and then Ava agreed smugly, which made him feel a bit self-conscious since he knew that he hardly had much of a model's face. With his plain brown eyes and brown hair, he wasn't much to look at, and that was not helped when guys like Harry Osborn existed. Then, as if to insult his looks even more, Osborn took off his sunglasses and revealed a bright set of emerald-green eyes.

Osborn hung his glasses from the collar of his shirt while looking around everywhere, taking in everything with a critical eye. He had no idea what the young genius was thinking, was he criticising or perhaps simply wondering how everything worked? Fury walked them all over to where the team was standing.

"Mr Osborn, I'd like you to meet the team I was telling you about," Fury said as he stopped in front of them. "This is Kate Bishop," He said pointing at Kate.

"Hi," Kate waved. "My codename's 'Hawkeye',"

"Her codename is not 'Hawkeye'," Fury said in a tired voice before he gestured to Jimmy. "This is Jimmy Hudson, codename 'Savage'."

"Sup?" Jimmy said, not looking remotely interested in Osborn who was staring at Jimmy like he was an interesting puzzle.

"And then this is Ava Ayala," Fury continued, gesturing to Ava. "Code name, 'White Tiger'."

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Mr Osborn," Ava said, holding a hand out towards Harry. He stared at her for a few seconds, causing Ava to wilt. She was about to lower her hand when Harry reached out and shook it.

"Pleasure," Harry nodded to her before letting go, Ava stepped back and seemed to glow with happiness as if she'd been awarded a noble prize.

"And then we have Evan Daniels, also known as 'Spike'," Fury said, gesturing to the individual in question.

"Hi man," Evans grinned. "Pleasure to meet you, I'm the leader of this team,"

"Says who?" Jimmy snorted.

"And finally," Fury cut them both off while gesturing to him. "We have Rick Riker, his code name is -"

"Let me guess," Harry said, cutting Fury while stepping forward and pointing to the symbol on his chest. "Dragonfly?"

A.N: Still working on the latest bloodline chapter, should be out soon hopefully. Also yes, yes that is the same character from the 'Superhero movie'.

Thanks for another excellent and very fun chapter, appreciate the work you put into it.

Guess this is a good second wake up call and reaffirmation of how big the world is. I dont know if he was subconsciously looking down on the mundane worl after meeting tge Ancient One. Never assuming another secret orga running around, but this should be good. Take whatever he can and prep his core group up.
