One of my fav to rewatch of these type of spell episodes along with Halloween, Band Candy, Something Blue, A New Man, etc...

2025-09-02 11:25:44 +0000 UTCYou can see how Buffy's face drops when her memories come flooding back. So sad. Buffy seems to be feeling like a martyr with her choice of Joan as her name. "I feel like a Joan." Buffy wants to be the instigator. In OMWF Buffy followed Spike into the alley. Buffy turned away from Spike when he came to her in the Bronze but went after him once he walked away. Michelle Branch was a big get for the Bronze. I like this version of the song better than the original. The line "and I think I'm kind of gay" was a call-back to Doppelgangland. When vampire Willow kept hitting on her, she said that.

2025-09-01 23:18:42 +0000 UTCThe loan shark is the same shark that went after Doyle on Angel. And the reason Giles is no longer full time on the show because Anthony Stewart Head misses home and wanted to spend more time in England.

2025-09-01 22:32:55 +0000 UTCI’m a bit confused by your shirt. Is it backwards? The camera isn’t mirrored since the Buffy posters in the back isn’t reversed. Or is that a green screen?

2025-09-01 18:59:00 +0000 UTCI'm totally Team Tara when it comes to her leaving Willow as well. When this episode first aired I was like "Oof, I feel that" because I knew just how wrong Willow was with how she was acting based on my own experience when I was an addict. I had just started a combination of Methadone and intense therapy to get off Heroin when Buffy season 6 aired. Several years prior to that when I first told my friends I'd gotten myself hooked on smack, one of them was especially kind and understanding, and offered me a ton of love and support, with the one caveat that I please never turn up to his place when I was high. Of course me being the brain trust that I was back then it was less than a week later that I rocked up to his house so completely off my face that I could hardly stand up properly; and then proceeded to stagger around like an idiot, knocking over tables and chairs, almost pulling a display cabinet over, and spilling red wine on my friend's brand new white rug. Surprising absolutely no one he then told me to 'get the fuck out', before literally throwing me out of his place and informing me I was to no longer contact, speak to, or visit him until I'd gotten clean. Of course brain trust again I proceeded to do exactly not that and instead just spent several months bitching and complaining about how unfair everything was and how people should just totally cut me all of the slack, because boohoo being an addict was like sooo hard. I do remember kind of knowing where this episode was headed when I first saw it, but still kind of sinking down in my chair and just thinking, "Willow, no, don't you dare do what I know you're about to do...damnit!"

2025-09-01 18:39:03 +0000 UTCRemember the scene in Restless in Xander’s dream where spike is wearing this exact suit and Giles says “Spike’s like a son to me”? That little callback always makes me chuckle

2025-09-01 18:23:34 +0000 UTCAnother connection to Restless is the foreshadowing of Willow's treatment of Tara from episode 6 to now, with the memory wiping. The poem that is painted on Tara's back in Restless is the "Ode to Aphrodite", which has a part that reads: "For if she flies, soon she will pursue. If she refuses gifts, rather she will give them. If she does not love, soon she will love even unwilling"

2025-09-01 18:07:47 +0000 UTCJason and the Argonauts from 1963 is the film you're thinking of. Stop motion effects done by the legendary Ray Harryhausen (who also did the effects on Clash of the Titans 1981). Both great films.

2025-09-01 17:49:41 +0000 UTC"Spike's like a son to me..." Restless episode, Spike and Giles on the swings, Spike's wearing a brown suit. Look familiar? :D
