they might've just tacked it onto the end to make us question what's real.. and it could just as well be an alternate reality/parallel dimension but it wouldn't make her Sunnydale reality fake.

2025-11-02 21:07:35 +0000 UTCIt's real. Why? We the audience see the doctor and her parents after she's "gone" interacting. Also when she went to Heaven, she was brought to reality. She can't remember Heaven, but she was loved. Only instead of being "pulled" out by Willow/medicine, she is choosing to be the hero/schizo. And a small point I suppose but this show is in fact a fabrication of Joss and the other writers. Spending most hours of the day and night working on the show must be weird in their normal lives with nothing supernatural to talk about.

Also, great comment about the basement and trying to control her mind. You could say the same symbolism exists in Flooded with the basement being her mind or maybe ID. "Did anyone notice its flooded in here?"
