So many people joke about Goku not having any technique of his own through the series, just "copying" others', yet he just came up with the "Tornado attack" in a pinch. The truth is that he is a prodigy: what he lacks in "conventional" intelligence and social skills, he makes up with his battle instincts and adaptability; so of course if he's seen (and thus learnt) a move that can come handy, he'll simply use it. My favorite part is that he often adds his own twists to any technique to adapt to the situation, and a lot of people don't seem to acknowledge that. For example, while it's true that the Kamehameha was Roshi's technique, throughout the series Goku has probably come up with more variations on that technique than all other characters together.
