Watching it live, the break between the first and second part of season 3 was about 6 months. The end credits interruption was too juicy for me to wait though. I went and bought the ebooks to read ahead. The manga series was not complete in late 2018 and still had a few more years to go. I did pace myself and stopped at the most logical point for where I expected the third season to end. It is Bertholdt and Reiner on the wall. I still don't know why Bertholdt was drawn so differently for that scene in particular. That's still a mystery.

Be it bad or good. Remember, they're going in on a titan territory. Erwin can't use his ODM effectively anymore. So, Levi's worries are valid. Plus, like Levi's said, they might be unsuccessful in retaking wall Maria. So if that happens, at least humanity still has Erwin to make plans and do Erwin things. But if they lost the retake, and they lost Erwin in the process too, humanity might just lose for good. About that end credit scene, it's interesting that they showed that in this episode. Once you reach that part in the show, all the answers to the questions you might have are in this episode.
