I sometimes record with the box in my closet if I need a quieter atmosphere, but yeah that gets real cramped real fast. Definitely looking to soundproof a small area in my home to get some better outputs!
I use a Zoom H2N recorder for voice and environment recordings but occasionally I have to grab sounds from online for specific SFX.

Hey Alex. Not sure if you'll get this. An old school cheap way to sound proof a room, use egg cartons. Stick em to the walls all over. Guaranteed sound proofing.
