So, due to the stress regarding the SPIKE novel deadline thingamabob, the Harbour 'mini-project' has been postponed for the time being.
However, I got lots of drawings related to said mini-project. And I am sort of tempted to share some of them with you fine folks.
I've recently decided to post more of the Patreon stuff I share here with the folks on deviantART too so as not to exclude anyone based on their financial situation, you know? But on the other hand I feel that some content will be best and probably better to keep solely on Patreon. Or at least see how that content is received before deciding whether it's dA appropriate or not, you know? Seeing how my dA gallery is like a public portfolio of mine, and... well, let's just put it this way: there are certain types of drawings I don't really want my family to accidentally stumble across, you know? Mainly the Harbour-related stuff.. *ahem* >o>
This drawing you see here is sort of in the "sweet and innocent" category. I have many Alternate Universe / Harbour drawings in that same suggestive-but-not-revealing type of category, but there are also some that are... well, very suggestive to the point of almost bordering the NSFW line, so to speak.
Honestly, I haven't really drawn my characters in sexual alternative universe settings like this since... idk, since I was in my mid teens and brimful of stupid hormones, you know how that is, right? And back in my days (lol feeling old now :P ) the internet wasn't as cooperative or helpful as I get the impression of it being today. Plus I feel there was a lot more stigma about regarding arousing fiction then versus now. Heck, I had to draw my own "porn" because I had no idea where or how to find any that was to my liking (I was never and still am not a fan of porn, it's just very unappealing to me. But I did and still do like the more character-chemistry sort of safe-for-work / soft-core?? stuff that lets the mind ponder about what is going on and what happened before and after, you know? I like the more romantic sort of content, the insinuating kind that leaves a lot to the imagination. As soon as I see genitals in drawings, images or whatever - the fun is gone. That's honestly a big turn-off for me. Idk, I'm weird like that I suppose. But I'm more for the romantic attraction rather than sexual attraction.
How is this relevant to anything, you ask? Well, going back to the Harbour and the content I created for it; It started off as a dare I got from a friend, where she challenged me to draw a sex scene. An everything-exposed sort of sex scene. I was very reluctant, but I took on the challenge, and not knowing who else to draw I drew Sam and Spike. But I couldn't bring myself to draw any revealing details, see. So what I managed to come up with was basically just the two of them standing shirtless in an intimate sort of embrace. Pants on and all, so it was in retrospect a very dull drawing considering what the challenge had been.
But the fun thing was how much it forced me to improve my drawing skills. Plus having to imagine alternate universes to explain the scenes I was drawing, like what was going on and what happened before and after.
Loving how challenging it was to draw like that, I drew another one out of free will later on. And several drawings later I just cannot stop. I feel less awkward about drawing nudity now, even though I don't really feel like drawing genitals yet (I did one NSFW drawing, but I can't stand it because of how it reveals genitals. It just lost all appeal because of it, you know? I like the cropped version of that drawing WAAAAY better. Reproductive organs are way more fun when you can't see them, lol... Don't ask; I don't understand my own logic sometimes either XD )
Anyhow...
This drawing here of Terrance and Saunders is one of the earliest Harbour-related drawings I did, and it is a fair example of the type of drawings I draw, where the scenes and poses etc are more suggestive than revealing. Also, I try my best to keep the characters 'in-character' even though most of it isn't canon - The Harbour is basically an Alternative Universe type of version of the SPIKE universe, only that everyone is ship-able :p
So the characters have the same backstories as before, same personality traits, pros and cons etc, only their individual stories have different outcomes.
...In short, it is an A.U. where everyone can be shipped with anyone - so long as they are all 18 years or older - no underage ships (aka boats?).
A lot of ships (relationships) have arrived at the Harbour already. I think Saunders holds the record of how many ships one character is included in XD I think Spike is a close second.
The fun bit about this is that anyone can be shipped, regardless of whether any of them are canon or not.
...Fun fact though; ONE of the ships that were created just for kicks, actually ended up being canon... o 3 o I will leave you to speculate on which one ;) hint: it does not include Spike.
Anyhow...
I was wondering if you guys would like to see more Harbour related drawings? Or if you'd rather not see any? And also I'm curious about your opinions regarding sharing it on DeviantART eventually (with mature content filter on, even though it's non-revealing, but more to ensure friends and family members of mine won't accidentally stumble across these types of drawing and look at me differently forever XD :p ).
...I forgot what else I was about to say, and I'm running low on battery so I'll just have to post this now either way XD
Thanks again for all your support! :D <3
