SPiKE story update:
Added 2018-07-28 15:27:33 +0000 UTCRemember I leaked earlier that I am working with a publisher on trying to get SPiKE published as a graphic novel book series?
I wasn't really supposed to reveal that to be honest, but I also really don't want to keep you guys in the dark about it. I'm keeping this "patrons only" though so that it's not all "out there" just yet ;)
Either way, here's a little update:
We had applied for a grant to get financial support for both the publisher and myself to get started on reaching our goal. We applied in March I think, and we got our reply this summer.
We got a decline, but they encouraged us to apply again in September - which my publisher says is a good sign because it means they actually liked what we sent them but need to see more finished work before they can fund us.
My publisher mentally prepared me for this already before we applied the first time, so I've been working towards the September deadline ever since March. I've scripted most of Volume One, and I've sketched over 40 pages with maaaany more in the making. I'm estimating that Volume One will be a 250 pager, or more if the story requires it and the publisher allows me to expand it. But yeah, the plan now is to fine tune the layouts so they make more sense to not just me lol, and then make a few finished pages, write a synopsis of Volume One and write a brief overview of the plans for the other Volumes and rest of the story, runtime etc. Then we add all that to our grants application on September 3rd, cross our fingers, and I'll continue working on the story/comic regardless of the outcome.
If we don't get the grants, and if worst case scenario it won't be published at all then, hey, no worries; I'll have enough pages to start a webcomic at least.
The promise still stands; One way or another, when the SPiKE story is done you will get a chance to read it.
Wish me luck though, eh? ^__^
Thanks again for your love and support <3 You guys are amazing <3
