Bardvember Week #2: Mechanics
Added 2015-11-11 14:01:49 +0000 UTCThe biggest contribution that Diadira makes to the Harem Collector team is her singing. Her Songs ability is mechanically unique, providing huge party buffs in exchange for Didi not doing anything for five rounds. That sounds like a huge liability, but each of Didi's songs were designed for a very specific purpose, to make up for the fact that players will only have three functional party members during that time.
Diadira' starting song is "Heartbeat Panic", a fast-paced song that grants the party +20% critical chance and increased attack speed, perfect for a physically-oriented party that needs to end fights quickly before enemy damage starts to rack up. This song has the best synergy with party members like Yamamaya, Elaiya, Gargan, and Raina, who rely on physical attacks.
The next song that Diadira learns by leveling up is "Rush of Spirit", a technically impressive song that inspires party members with a +7 Momentum bonus per turn. This song is best for more tricky party members whose best attacks require Momentum, like Chimei, Doll, Bronwyn and Therese.
The final song that Diadira learns by leveling is "Noise Riot", a thundering rock-inspired beat that grants 2% mana regeneration and grants all spellcasters access to the "Feedback" skill, a sonic-element attack magic that deals additional damage every consecutive time it's cast in a single turn. Of course, this song is best used with characters like Kyrie, Meline, Larelle and Yeon. Oh, and as a special bonus, "Feedback" has different attributes based on how it is cast- the Feedback spell has the highest damage, the Feedback prayer causes Deafness, the Feedback evocation causes Knockdown, and the Feedback rite causes "Rocked", a special damage-over-time effect.
When Diadira reaches the "Trust" relationship level, she does indeed learn to place her trust in her teammates. She gains the "My Sanctuary" ballad, which has two different effects- it gives Diadira 25% Health regeneration per turn, and the rest of the party gains 10% damage reduction and increased threat. This is best used when a lot of damage is incoming and you need to protect your bard at the expense of the rest of your party.
When Diadira reaches the "Love" relationship level (which won't be implemented right away, sorry), she finally learns how to manage her breath control and pitch in during combat while singing. Once at this level, while Diadira has a song in effect, she can still make regular attacks and use items (although she won't be able to maintain multiple songs or switch between songs).
So that's the lowdown on Diadira's singing abilities. Hope they get you excited for the next release!
