2023-10-19 08:56:57 +0000 UTCI am so insanely hyped to listen to this. I watched G Gundam on toonami around the same time. This is the show that got me into mecha in the first place. I've got a few kits but I have a Shining and Shadow gundam on my shelf right by me. Out of all the gundam series from that era, I think 08th MS Team is my second favorite. Its a very short watch and I think it had some better written and grounded characters than most of the series (for better and worse). There's parts of the show that really make me think Sunrise saw the Gulf War going on and went "Damn thats a vibe". The other series I'd recommend for this is Zoids: Chaotic Century. Domon's VA plays a supporting character in that one. All of the robots are animals and are used to fight in a large ground war. If I can help push that one over the line for you, the main antagonist basically has mecha godzilla. The second half of the season a different villain does the same thing but its a fucking scorpion and it's incredible.

Given the usual subject matter of LLBD, it would be interesting to see them tackle mecha anime where the mecha are treated like normal military hardware like "Full Metal Panic!" or the Gundam shows that aren't this one. Probably a lot of Joe yelling "Bullshit!" 😆

I've only ever seen one still of it from the anime and one still of it's model kit. It's dope even if I'm confused by it's lead hand being a mace ball, cause I'm not sure how you clinch up with one hand.
