The Americans is one of the best shows (and my personal favorite) of this decade. It flew under the radar for so long, but it has exceptional writing and performances and the most perfect finale ever.

2019-08-12 06:54:14 +0000 UTCGreat show and I hope you'll react more to it. I like it especially, since I was born in USSR and migrated to US. Really insightful part where Elizabeth and Phillip are exchanging first impressions (1:09:45) - USA does seems to much more colorful and people (not weaker) softer. Makes sense: they didn't have to live through 2 World Wars, major invasion, a revolution and a purge in only 70 years or so. Oh, and air conditioners are amazing (haven't seen one until moved to US).

2019-07-03 15:24:40 +0000 UTCGreat pilot. Its funny how you missed the year 1981 because you were enjoying the song in the beggining and then tried to figure out what year is it set in the whole episode. But hey, atleast you got it close at the review part when you said late 70's early 80's. :)

2019-07-02 14:31:15 +0000 UTCLove this show! One of the best of this last few years. Superb acting from the main cast. I hope you will continue to watch. It’s really worth it. Some non spoilery answers to your questions. You were looking at your phone, so you didn’t see the year 1980 at the beginning. We don’t know about Philip, but based on the informations in this episode, Elizabeth is supposed to be 39 or 40 years old (her father died when she was 2 at the battle of Stalingrad during WWII. Stan, the FBI agent, visit to the garage is lampshaded during the episode by his interactions i with his colleagues ad superiors and with his wife. He describes accurately what happened to the kidnapped Russian defector based on the evidence shown and he has an acute sense of paranoia.
