At the end of this same episode Damon kills the white lady that tried to help him when he was laying in the road. ;)

Trust me the TVD'S is an equal opportunity helper killer, there is a long way to go :). Damon is a pretty complex character, Layers upon layers.

Can we have 2 episodes per week on patreon? Would be dope

I totally forgot about the song choice at the end. I'll always liken that song to Breaking Bad's "Stay out of my territory" scene but it gave me goosebumps to see Damon go 'Heisenberg' on that poor girl to assert his dominance.

And remember that every emotion is heightened to the max so pain is wrenching and guilt is debilitating. So he has to be unredeemable, unworthy of affection, and love so no one gets close.

Janeka Rector

Yeah, epic fail. Seriously, now I have no idea how I thought that.

Libby

I always thought that was obvious, I honestly had no idea it could be taken the way you took it πŸ˜‚

Same with me I’ve always taken it as Damon saying that he misses being human more than anything in the world. This is what he said

Okay I'm not even going to admit how many time I have seen this episode but watching your reaction I was suddenly very confused. When he talks to Jessica before he kills her and he says he "misses it more than anything in the world" I always thought he meant killing/feeding on humans. You interpreted that as Damon saying he misses being human. Aside from watching this like a million times I know I've seen like 5 other people react to it and you are the first to say that Damon was talking about being human. I now need to go rewatch that like ten times and check some other reactors, cause that may be what he wa saying and frankly if you are right that would have REALLY affected my perceptions of Damon at this point in the show. Any of you commenters have an opinion on this? How did you take it? EDIT: I just watched it again and you are RIGHT. HOW did my dumbass miss that?

Libby

It was beautiful what Damon did for Rose in her final moments and I thought he finally was changing and then he fucks it all up again by murdering Jessica. I'm on season 3 but I still find it hard to forgive him for this

I love how and why Rose died and what that meant for Damon and also for Elena. Since we met Damon in the pilot he has been the brother that doesn't seem to care about anything, but we've also discovered that he indeed cares A LOT. He cares about Stefan, about Elena, about Alaric, about the town. It is just easier for him to pretend that it doesn't matter to him instead of giving into human emotions because they are much harder to navigate for a vampire. But Rose's death was the tipping point - now Damon can't surpress his feelings any longer, they're out. He is hurting, he is sad and upset and most of all overwhelmed with all these emotions that he doesn't want. So his first instinct is to lash out and kill that girl. Also Elena got Rose's message of not giving up so easily. Yes, she would still die to keep her friends safe, but she's finally willing to look for an option that saves them all.

OMG I forgot she did that in the cave

Steven Merced

She had to go play Maggie on The Walking Dead! Lol

Lynell Twiner

Damon was "in" Rose's head giving her the dream. Katherine already did this twice to Stefan this season, once in the cave and once in his room in episode 1/2, I believe. I think the stronger the vampire the harder this is to do but Rose was dying so Damon could. Also love the ending with Damon bc we get a better understanding of what he's thinking and I feel like we hardly get those more intimate moments with him so, love when they show it.

such an emotional episode. love rose!

cil

Great episode! Sarah Michelle Gellar was asked to play Rose originally.

james cedro

Rose!!

Loved this episode for Damon and his struggles with humanity and how he tends to run from it. I think this is a perfect example of how much of a wall he tends to put up in order to protect himself from that. Also makes me respect Stefan a bit more for being willing to open himself up to his humanity and embrace it. Wish Rose had stuck around longer.
