DON'T LOOK up River's Timeline!!!!

2020-08-03 22:49:49 +0000 UTCI mentioned this in the comments of "The Impossible Astronaut " but the opening 30 sec monologue of Amy describing The Doctor as her friend and the plot of the show was only for international audiences. In the UK it never appeared and went straight into the title sequence with the The TARDIS flying into shot just like S5 and other series/seasons before. At this point in time Doctor Who under Moffat's management exploded in popularity in The US and was the reason why they filmed part of these opening two episodes in the States. It led to greater exposure and invites on talkshows and comic con panels to promote Who.

2020-07-18 22:24:05 +0000 UTCI love this season, and it has the best score. There's a great video on YT that breaks down River's timeline but yes, it is totally spoiler-y. Do not watch it right now. I've said it before, but Matt Smith is so damn good at looking old in the eyes, if that makes sense, despite being the youngest Doctor when cast. Yes, River is fabulous. I have her Funko Pop! character, along with Eleven, Ten, and Rose. If I were ever to cosplay a DW character, it would be River.

2020-07-18 04:45:09 +0000 UTCWhile s6 isn't my fav, I think you would enjoy the filler episodes as much as I did! I started to love Amy in this season too, which is odd cuz I love s5 (story wise) but didn't like her that much in it.

2020-07-18 02:57:45 +0000 UTCWhen Amy says the line about him falling from the sky and then later says its just an expression - I don't think she was lying I think it was just a clumsy bit of dialogue to give Rory a reason to wonder who she was talking about and to unsettle us as viewers.

2020-07-17 21:30:53 +0000 UTCThey had to build the "Perfect Prison" to make sure that "The Silence" did not know what they were doing, there was only one way to get out of that Prison, if you did not have a TARDIS.

2020-07-17 15:14:35 +0000 UTC"The Silence" work on 2 levels, when you see them, they trigger your "Fight of Flight" response. You choose to either stare or look away, if you look away, you forget, if you stare, they give you a post hypnotic suggestion to give you something to "Fight". Now when anyone who has watched these tape sees them, they automatically have their "Fight" response triggered and they kill "The Silence". This is the thought that leads some to believe that Craig from "The Lodger" is the one who killed "The Silence" in the upstairs faux apartment, in part allowing for the AI/Hologram to see humans as a threat and therefore disregard them as not expendable, it is merely a thought.

2020-07-17 15:06:47 +0000 UTCThe fact they used the actual glitch in the moon landing film, the fact they used Nixon being so paranoid and taping everything he did and saying hit to David Frost for no apparent reason in actual history to such great effect/affect here. The ending, the even though you still don't trust Amy, her again doing the opposite of Rose and Mickey dynamic. The finally answering "The Silence" question, that most people forgot they asked. River, River, River, River. More Rory, the inclusion of Canton. The 11th Doctor owning the stage and to finally that ending, that ending....... I give this episode a 10

2020-07-17 15:02:08 +0000 UTCDo Not.....I repeat.....Do Not, google anything about River Song......That is a rabbit hole, that you will never recover from of spoiler heavy stuff. Let it go and it will come back to you tenfold.

2020-07-17 14:51:41 +0000 UTCAlso, the one thing I don't like about series 6 is that they try to make us think thay Amy is into the Doctor romantically in this episode. The falling out of the sky was put there so we would make that assumption as well as Rory. I don't really think it was necessary. At the end of the episode she literally says he is her best friend and we have already seen she loves Rory. When this episode aired I think we all simultaneously thought not this shit again π They make it a point of trying to clear it up but it just makes her look fickle π€·π»ββοΈ

2020-07-17 14:39:51 +0000 UTCTotally enjoyed your appreciation for this complicated, confusing episode. Very happy you know better than to consult a River Song timeline to figure it all out. As she told the Doctor at the end of the Weeping Angels 2-parter: βItβs a long storyβ¦ It canβt be told, it has to be lived. No sneak previews!β My favorite parts are the Doctor and River flirting. Love it when River slaughters the aliens, holsters her gun, and says to Rory: βMy old fellow didnβt see that, did he? He gets ever so cross.β

2020-07-17 14:38:26 +0000 UTCRiver's lasts are his firsts and we see River through the Doctor's point of view. This was their first kiss for him so it is the first time we see them kiss. It was last time for her. Last episode she mentioned that when she first met the doctor he knew everything about her and she nothing about him. The more she knows the less he knows her and the more he knows her the less she knows him. Eventually we will get to a point where they start meeting somewhere in the middle. I love this season! There was a lot to take in at the beginning and it does get confusing as to what is going on with Amy and the astronaut but all questions will be answered eventually π You should also probably hold off on watching any type of timeline for River Song until you are done with the entire show to avoid spoilers. There is also a series called the diary of River Song which you should look into after Who. It's not a television series more like an audio series but she is such an amazing characters and listening to her adventures outside of the Doctor Who is pretty great!

2020-07-17 14:30:56 +0000 UTCIt just dawned on me, they would have to sleep, like that, they are unseen and forgotten, so anywhere else they would have been bumped into. The little details of this show.........brilliant!!!!!!!

2020-07-17 14:01:42 +0000 UTCThe Intro. At the time Doctor Who had gone global, the 5th Season of Doctor Who was an international success and because of the new viewers they thought at the time, this would be the best way to catch them up (especially with how much they threw at people in these first couple of episodes), there was also some dislike of Amy. It became the joke that they did it, to root out the people who were going to complain anyway (again last season for most was one of the best seasons of Who, the 11th Doctor was highly regarded and a lot of people were upset because they felt that David was not given his proper grieving period.....you are supposed to dislike the new Doctor longer then it took to like Matt Smith and David Tennant's 10th Doctor is one of the greatest of all time, so for him to be forgotten so quickly along with the whole RTD era, really chafed some people and Moffat knowing they would need something to be upset with and gave them this the intro. The internet was just becoming nasty at this time.

2020-07-17 13:51:39 +0000 UTCYeah - that bit at the start - the little resume..... That might be something they did on the US broadcast or something the streamer added. We didn't get that in the UK. Reminds me of the bit at the start of every Quantum Leap episode........

2020-07-17 07:50:01 +0000 UTCSo we are following the Doctor as he gets to know River, so the more the Doctor knows about her the less she will know about him, just like vice versa. So without spoilers...this kiss is his first and her last, meaning it's getting close to her time in the Library on her end, but there is more to come for the Doctor to get to know River on his end. I'd tell you more, but spoilers.
