David, one thing you need to consider: Of course there's a bit of formula to the show and it'll probably never be the person they suspect in the middle of the episode. But you need to see it from the character's point of view: They don't know they're in a TV show, so they have to follow up leads and interrogate people. So you know they're wasting their time, but they don't know it. So try to enjoy the ride a bit more :-)

2020-10-03 12:13:14 +0000 UTCI think the whole Ellie thing was to show Beckett being a bit jealous at the thought of Castle dating someone. You could see it bothered her and just how happy she was at the end when she found out his big date wasn't with Ellie but Alexis. She couldn't help but smile. They want to show that she really does like Castle but doesn't want to admit it to herself or anyone else.
