I think the reason why they didn't tell the girls and everybody else about the harvest is pretty simple: no teenage girl would've offered to have their throats slit just for their parents to gain more power even if they come back to life again (which was a big IF btw bc the ritual is only done every 300 years as Sophie said), plus as the priest said killing kids is illegal and Marcel would've never allowed it to happen.

I feel it took me thinking over the questions that I had and seeing the episode a couple of times to really answer the questions for myself. The thing about the Harvest is to think of it as people’s belief in their religion. Sophie mentions that it hasn’t been done in hundreds of years so any knowledge of it is from stories from years ago. No one for many generations has actually seen the Harvest before. So you have to really have belief in these stories about the Harvest to go through with it or have your child go through with it. I think the elders and the parents knew the truth and kept it from the girls because really there was no proof that they would really be resurrected. They just have their beliefs in those previous stories of the Harvest and that the power was being transferred like the spell was supposed to do. I may be mistaken but I believe Cami’s brother was a seminary student not a alter boy so he would be older. However, I had the same thought about they don’t look the same age. Davina and the vampires both have reasons for not wanting the ritual to go through. Davina is not wanting to die and not be resurrected. The vampires don’t want the witches to gain more power. While Klaus is powerful and can’t be killed, he even mentioned in the pilot that he couldn’t really control the witches when he was in control of New Orleans. So this is just a simple way of doing away with them for when he regains power from Marcel. I don’t think Marcel necessarily had something happened that changed him. I think it is more of the adage about absolute power corrupting. He has become drunk from the power that he has with Davina.

2021-09-15 03:59:15 +0000 UTCDavina isn’t sure that she will come back to life because the witches lied about the harvest ritual to begin with which is why she doesn’t just go along with finishing the harvest. Also, yes if the harvest and reaping is not complete then their magic will drain away, I just always assumed that Davina’s deal with Elijah was so that she could learn to control her magic in the meantime. I think you’re overthinking the Cami/Sean age thing lol
