Thank you for watching and a giant thank you to whomever requested this show, it's a real treat to see somebody reacting to it. I made all my friends watch it back in the day and got some interesting conversations and surprising perspectives out of it. It seems weird to me when Freaks and Geeks is mentioned alongside this show, which it does often. IMO, they have nothing in common. If anything, Felicity has a very similar feel to MSCL. While I think it's weird that Felicity got 4 whole seasons and MSCL (being stronger) got just one, at some level I'm glad. It went out on a high, there was no low point, no drop which is inevitable with shows that run for multiple seasons. I hope people watch and remember this show for the years to come and truly enjoy it.
2022-01-06 18:13:54 +0000 UTCThanks for watching ! It is a little slow and the dialogue is awkward, but that's what makes it so real. This feels like a home movie to me. I was just out of high school when this started airing and I can verify that this is very accurate for the time period - the clothes, the grunge music, etc. We didn't have cell phones or computers....we had to find other ways to pass the time so we basically just "hung out" a lot. There was always "somebody" who knew what was going on and where the party was...and we always ended up at somebody's house where some band was rehearsing. I hope you enjoy the journey :-) Fun fact - the girl who plays Rayanne actually married British royalty. She lives in a castle in England. She's actually a countess ! 2021-10-06 23:04:59 +0000 UTCyes! i was 14-15 when this aired and related so much to angela and her friends (both the old friends and the new). watching it in recent years, i've identified more with the parents, mostly patty (despite not being a parent myself). i'm very excited for this journey, and to see how the show resonates (or doesn't) with someone outside the target demo and many years removed from the setting.

2021-10-06 12:56:52 +0000 UTCThis might be TOO MUCH of a slow burn for me...I only got through like the first 10mins. Sorry but I guess it's one of those shows where unless you watched it growing up it's too unrelatable. Or maybe that's just me. Btw, can I make a request? PLEASE someone on this channel react to Ugly Betty. It's an older show and some jokes didn't age well but the overall theme and inclusitivity is pretty awesome. Funny as hell too.

2021-10-06 12:07:21 +0000 UTCI’m kind of stoked someone is reacting to this. I’m actually enjoying your confusion a bit because I understand it. I was in a suburban high school when this aired and can tell you that my peer group considered this the most relatable show about teenagers they’d ever seen. The language, relationships, and jaded, miserable world view rang true to our relatively privileged selves. Especially compared to things like Saved by the Bell and 90210. I do think that the characters become more likable as we learn more about them and their motivations. Ricky was a huge step in representation and is probably the most likable character. And I’m now into my forties and still agree that Jared Leto can lean like no one’s business. Lol. You probably have heard the character name referenced in other things. He’s very iconic for a particular micro generation. And the whole first and last name thing they do with characters on this show is another example of a very real detail in how people talk about each other in my experience. Another great piece of realism is when the parents talk like teenagers using filler words such as like and um. In retrospect this is definitely a slow burn start and very much of a particular time. But I think as it goes on it should become more universally relatable than it starts out as you get to better understand the characters’ motivations and backstories.
