The scene with Barry and Jay going around the pillar to get to Patty is straight up a panel from the comics. There are side by side pics of it. They made a promo with a drawing version of it too.

2021-10-07 01:14:07 +0000 UTCJay is the original Flash from DC comics. Who was first published in 1940. By the 1950's DC basically rebooted its comic characters. So characters like Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Batman, ect were ever so slightly different. This group of characters is the Barry Allen version of Flash these are the heroes that are part of the Justice League. In 1961 in Flash 161 (I think) the Flash of two worlds meet (the show did a homage of the cover), and basically created the concept of Earth 1 and Earth 2. The original characters all done in the in the 40's are part of Earth 2, they formed the Justice Society. While the characters that were used in the 50's are those characters in Earth 1. Most of the stories told since were told in Earth 1, but they would interact with the characters from Earth 2 for crossovers, ect. Jay's character is an older man now in comics but still a hero as the Flash (At least the last time I was reading DC comics, who knows how many things have changed since then). And yeah as far as characters in the Flash the name Jay Garrick is huge either the 2nd or third most significant name. Barry Allen would be first.....
