2021-10-13 11:05:21 +0000 UTCVery true but Henry wasn't in the flashbacks. I always wondered if he did or didn't notice all the other kids staying the same as he was getting older during the curse lol.

2021-10-13 11:04:18 +0000 UTCI really like this episode because of the flashback of Cursed Storybrooke. It was a cool twist that it was only 10 years into the curse and not the full 28. We can also determine that when Emma came to town back in the pilot and decided to stay at Granny’s, we here her say her name “Emma Swan” and Rumple says, “what a lovely name.” Exactly as it happened in this episode. So, Rumple just needed to hear “Emma” in order for him to wake up during the curse which is cool, in my opinion.

2021-10-12 12:54:02 +0000 UTCAwake- Thank you so much for such a fabulous reaction from you once again, Steven!! I enjoyed it very much. :) I love, love, love this episode so much!!! Awake is one of my overall favorite episodes throughout this season, as well as throughout the entire shpw. It's so beautiful. First, regarding your thoughts about how the cast all look older, and whether or not the writers and creators seem to care about the characters' looks when writing this backstory... I don't believe that they don't care about these actors looking too much older when they chose to write a backstory that fits way back into season one. Because if they didn't care, they wouldn't have bothered at all to have Robert Carlyle wear a wig, seeing as Rumple didn't cut his hair off until the beginning of season six. Yes... everyone most certainly looks older six seasons later. Especially Snow, mostly because Ginnifer Goodwin has given birth to one child since season one, and is currently pregnant again throughout the filming of this season. Is it strange that the creators and writers chose to create a whole new backstory for this episode that is set back during the time of the Evil Queen's dark curse? Perhaps. But I still love these early backstories nonetheless, and I do feel that they're necessary. Especially this particular backstory within Awake, given that we learn so much within it that is quite relevant and connected to the events that happen throughout this episode's present day storyline. And I absolutely love everything about both storylines. Plus... I do feel that the show's makeup artists and costume designers did the best they could under the circumstances. Like I mentioned... Rumple is wearing a wig, and both Snow and David wear their hair differently too. At least as much as they are able to, given that they both have short hair. Snow's hair is parted much like how she used to wear her hair back in season one. And Regina's hair is different too. Worn just like it was back in seaosn one as well. She might even be wearing a wig, since her hair in season one was definitely longer than it is throughout season six. I don't know. Nonetheless... I do feel everyone did the best they could and all in all... I feel they did great. Now... I absolutely love the scenes in Neverland with Killian, Tiger Lily, and the Lost Boys. I really like her character a lot. I especially love that it's revealed that she used to be a fairy, until she had chosen to give up her wings upon blaming herself for the Black Fairy's dark turn. I really enjoy that twist on her character. Upon her introduction... Tiger Lily saves Killian from the Lost Boys in the beginning, only to capture him because she had no way of knowing Killian was no longer the villainous Captain Hook. Yet with him being villain or hero, she hoped to recruit him to bring a half of a wand that can help Emma to defeat the Black Fairy, knowing that the final battle is coming despite herself being trapped in Neverland. Thankfully, it doesn't take much for Killian to convince her he's on her side and wants to help Emma far more than she does, because he's in love with the Savior. Fun fact... When he first awakens from unconsciousness inside the cave, Killian asks Tiger Lily if her abducting him has to do with something that happened between them inside Skull Rock... which if you remember from the Neverland arc, is where Pan manipulates Henry into giving him his heart, back in season three's episode... Think Lovely Thoughts. In the animated Disney movie of Peter Pan, Captain Hook and Mr. Smee abduct Tiger Lily and bring her to Skull Rock, where she is bound and nearly drowns because she refuses to tell Hook where Pan's hideout is. This is the incident that Killian is referring to when he mentions the incident between him and Tiger Lily at Skull Rock, indicating to us... the viewers, that these particular events within the Disney movie actaully happened within Once Upon a Time's world as well. I really love this nod to Disney's, Peter Pan. I absolutely love Killian's fearlessness to face all the Lost Boys in order to get to the magic that might help to get him home. And then we see him cut off his shadow just as Rumple did back in season three during the Neverland arc, in season three's episode... Lost Girl. This time, Killian orders his shadow to bring the wand back to Emma, and he's once again captured, but this time by the Lost Boys. And they beat him pretty badly once his shadow escapes from Neverland to return to Emma, with the half a wand and Killian's hook. Next... I really love the present storyline in Storybrooke with Emma struggling with her fear in facing the final battle alone, without Killian and her parents by her side to help her. Plus... the heroes do what they can to finally wake Snow and David from their sleeping curse, which I also really love too. Unfortunately, Regina's first solution backfires on her and causes Snow and Charming to both fall asleep together over times, without any hope of awaking again like the former Evil Queen also wanted all along. However, they discover the pixie flower that is created whenever there is great evil around, and just as Snow is about to use it to help her and David wake from the curse, Killian's shadow appears with the wand to give it to Emma, but in doing so, Emma realizes that Killian's in danger and also needs to be saved. I absolutely love this brief moment between Emma and Killian's shadow, as it reaches down to caress her cheek in comfort, as a way of telling her goodbye for Killian and that he loves her. I also love Emma's fear for him. It's very touching. Thankfully, Snow gives up the pixie flower dust to give it to Emma so she can save Killian, with complete faith Emma will find another way to save them too. Emma uses the pixie flower dust to open a door to Killian and thankfully saves him just in time before the Lost Boys kill him by burning him at the stake. Such a fantastic moment in the episode and so exciting!!! And then... Killian proposes to Emma once again, after he apologizes to her for even considering running away and for trying to keep what he did to David's father a secret. And this proposal is even more beautiful than his first proposal to Emma back in this season's episode... Ill Boding Patterns. Mostly because he wasn't under any pressure to propose, like how Emma unintentionally made him feel when had proposed to her before. I absolutely love these scenes... Emma saving Killian from Neverland, and Killian proposing to Emma. These are my favorite moments throughout this episode. True Loves are reunited and they have won again. Yay!!!! And the kiss they share as Emma's crying happy tears... so beautiful!! Now... I also love how Regina is able to discover a new way to wake Snow and David too. By having everyone share in the sleeping curse in order to delude its power over Snow and David. And she reveals to their friends just how much Snow and David sacrificed to save them all, upon learning they had the chance to be with Emma eighteen years earlier. Oh... and I love that Killian is the first of everyone to volunteer to drink from the cup because Snow gave up the cure to save him from being burned alive. He doesn't even hesitate. So beautiful. Is this magic used to wake Snow and Charming, and to break the Evil Queen's sleeping curse a bit confusing? I agree with you that it is a tad bit. Nonetheless... I still love the thoughts and efforts behind creating the magic able to break the curse once and for all. Mostly because it really is just so beautiful. Finally, as for the backstory of the time during the dark curse... Like you, I was at first really confused by what was going on, given that I too initially thought Snow was dreaming. However, as the story progresses, I really grew to love it and overall it really is quite clever. It might be a stretched idea, but I still love it. I love that Mary Margaret brings David the flower she finds from Regina's great evil, which allows for David to awake first, until he touches her upon pleading with her to remember and Snow does. The dust is enough to wake them both, as well as to open them a portal to Emma when she's only ten years old. But before I get too far ahead of myself... David goes to Rumple for help, who later urges them both to wait until Emma comes of proper age and comes to find them at the proper time. And because Snow was reminded by Regina upon her threatening to kill Archie earlier, Snow and David sacrifice their one chance to be with Emma sooner, for the good of everyone else too, with absolute faith Emma will find them one day when she's meant to. Again... so beautiful. And lastly... I think this episode is the first time since his introduction that I actually like Gideon for a brief time, because even though the Black Fairy had ordered Gideon to destroy all of the flowers, he manages to defy her and spare one for Emma to find so that she can bring Killian home and wake her parents. And I love this reveal in the final scene between the Black Fairy and Rumple in the end, as Gold tells her this and that he knows Gideon's heart in in her possession. Quite good and the Black Fairy is so great. Overall... Another brilliant reaction to a beautiful, fabulous, and phenomenal episode!! Thank you once more very much, Steven!!! I can't wait for the next episode!! Until next time... Sincerely, Heidi
