I love how apprehensive they are to believe that Joe is crazy 😂😂. They both were like ‘Am I crazy? Do y’all think Joe’s weird?’ And the whole time I’m like YES.

Also the guy from Gossip Girl, wouldn't mind watching a reaction to that show. I love subtitles, cant watch tv/movies without them.

Lucile Byrd

And the interesting thing is that the show does play some mind games with the audience. Sometimes you catch yourself starting to root for Joe like "OH MAN I HOPE HE DOESN'T GET CAUGHT-- WAIT, YES I DO!" because we have been trained by mainstream media to root for these couples because we don't get to see the creepy side of it the way we do with "You". It's an interesting watch for that alone xD

The production around Joe gives us hints to how Joe really is. It's hard at first. He seems likable enough - he's funny, charismatic, etc. But then he says things that are a little off. Creepy. Weird. The way he talks about Beck Wanting him to know that she isn't wearing a bra or that she deliberately does some things for his gratification. And then, we see him literally stalking her - on social media, and then in person. I mean, he breaks into her apartment! Then, he like, kidnaps her ex-boyfriend and holds him hostage? Yeah, he's off and I think it's something we should have noticed in the beginning. The problem is, we see everything through Joe's lens. He is the narrator and he is always talking to Beck, who he met, like a few days ago maybe? He's super judgmental of her friends and the world around her, which could often be mistaken for charm and intellect. He's obviously smart, but super condescending. I think this show absolves itself of answering how we should be feeling about its main character. The question isn't "Should we like Joe?" I think it turns into "Why do we like Joe?" or maybe "Why are we enraptured by him?" He has positive qualities, as I mentioned above, but also does some very questionable to downright horrible things this episode. And then, you hear the music they play. You see the title card with the blood. You hear a line from Paco's mom's boyfriend (Ron?, maybe?), that seems like a throwaway because he's a douche himself, but is actually very perceptive. In other words, this show could be played like a straight up romantic drama, if we remove Joe's narration and the music and some other unsettling things. But, make no mistake - this episode, in my opinion, is telling us that we should be uneasy about Joe. Just my two cents lol

I Am Not Chamari

I like the show but some of the characters make me understand why Joe does what he does haha. I haven't even seen the next season since it annoyed me so much.

The whole point of the show is taking the typical romantic tropes like looking your love interest up online, saving them from getting hurt, etc. and showing you how incredibly creepy, stalkery and wrong they can be. If Joe wouldn't look the way he looks or talk the way he talks, we would find him disgusting and like you said get serial killer vibes. But because of how society works he gets praise and what he wants by going about it the absolute worst way. That makes Joe a super interesting character, but certainly not someone you root for. I root for absolutely everybody but Joe tbh.
