Lol! So many times I think you're only half-listening. You kept saying I don't see how Lorelai can't understand Jason's position. She said she understood!!! She was in a terrible position too. She tried to stop her father from doing what he was doing to her boyfriend and then she tried to stop her boyfriend from going after her father. They both kept saying it was business and it's obviously very personal and she was trying to get them both to see that.

2021-05-21 14:17:41 +0000 UTCThat's actually a great observation about Floyd making subtle overtures to Richard about being willing to work this out privately during the dinner. I've seen this episode several times and never put that together!

2021-05-20 05:37:02 +0000 UTCRichard is being "creative" the only thing he is thinking about is saving himself. and weirdly understand it... IT IS BAD, but you are trading losing everything for getting his old life back

2021-05-19 20:03:24 +0000 UTCJason went against his own father, (that is why Emily didn't like him, ) so I understand that his father did what he did. Jason backstabbed him, and Jason Said he wanted to get his father, so he kinda started it and he knew if he played the game his father would too. Richard didn’t have a choice really, he chose his familys security over Jason. Jason didn’t join Richard to be nice to him but to screw his father, Jason Said so himself. Jason put himself in this position and knew his father, so he knew what he risked.

2021-05-19 19:27:31 +0000 UTCAs others have mentioned it wasn’t premeditated but throughout the dinner there are hints that a deal was open for Richard. Especially right before Jason’s dad leaves. He says he did what Richard would do and then mentions that he never got around to tell Richard the story he mentions earlier and that maybe they can have the discussion at a later time.

2021-05-19 15:17:49 +0000 UTCOkay, when Rory and Lane were talking at the grocery store, I cringed when you cringed. In fact, I had to pause right before Rory saw Lindsey. 😬😬😬 btw, your last theory regarding Richard was right

2021-05-19 12:32:40 +0000 UTCI think they worked out the deal after that dinner .. I think Richard saw the possibility of his entire company plus everything else going under and he did what he had to do to save his family's money and his company. Is it morally wrong? Absolutely. But it fits with Richard's character - he's not gonna risk their house, his family's money etc just to keep Jason.

2021-05-19 08:48:28 +0000 UTCI hated Richard for doing this! Jason messed up, but he was doing what he could to fix it! This is why Lorelai doesn't tell her parents anything about her life. Things with Jason were great without them knowing. If they did know, they'd just interfere because they just can't help themselves. The fact Richard didn't even let Jason who respected the hell out of him, more so than his so-called long-term friend and business partner, fix the mistake instead of just immediately going behind his back and taking EVERYTHING! Dude, I can't even! I kinda lost some of my love for Richard after this.

2021-05-19 08:09:47 +0000 UTCJust to clarify, that was not premeditated on Richard’s part. He didn’t decide to screw over Jason until Jason’s actions got them sued. And this deal with Floyd was Richard’s ruthless way of saving himself from ruin. Of course, Jason didn't actually do anything legally wrong, but having a friendly lunch with one of his Dad's clients when he's under a non-compete wasn't the smartest idea. This doesn't justify Richard totally screwing him over, but I think as was illustrated by their other "anecdotes" they were reminiscing over in this ep, Richard is quite cold-blooded in business, and his ass (and pension) was on the line, so of course he was gonna save himself without a second thought. He would never admit it, but I think he also wanted to punish Jason for dating his daughter all that time behind his back. I think it was the combination of that and Jason's actions bringing on this lawsuit that probably made him feel very little sympathy. But at the end of the day, dude takes pride in being a ruthless businessman. And this was indeed ruthless.

2021-05-19 07:50:44 +0000 UTCThis is lowkey when I kinda started disliking Richard. Jason didn't deserve that at all.

2021-05-19 06:28:43 +0000 UTCWhat Richard is doing is absolutely shitty. When Richard was pushed out of the company Jason was willing to come over and work with him to build their business. I know Richard is worried because he put up his pension, but he’s just throwing Jason under the bus instead of fighting the lawsuit.
2021-05-19 06:15:35 +0000 UTCI don't think the deal with Jason's father was set up before hand, like someone else already said, I think it was in response to the lawsuit and the fact that Richard put up his pension as collateral for the business and he was afraid of losing everything. Doesn't excuse what he did but I don't think it was planned ahead of time

2021-05-19 05:29:57 +0000 UTCMy family has always used real eggs. It was great because first, you got to color them, then they were hidden, and then you got to eat the ones you found. We never bought the plastic ones as they usually end up broken and can't be reused, so they just end up in the trash. We did have one aunt who would use a large plastic egg with money in it (whatever other family members would donate) and whoever found that one got the money, but the egg was always returned to her at the end. lol

2021-05-19 04:46:47 +0000 UTCRory was being rude talking about Lindsey and Dean in public. On the flip side, Lindsey doesn’t have a job. So instead of Dean leaving school and working more, can’t she get a job too? Is she going to school as well? It wasn’t a set up with Richard. Jason’s father is an asshole (he can’t even be proud of his son for starting a successful business) and like they said wrangled a dinner invitation just to tell them he was suing them (probably because he’s mad he couldn’t control Jason and make him stay in the company with him, upset Jason wanted to get from him and do his own thing). Also, he threw in that Jason and Loreli are in a secret relationship cause he knows after he told him he was suing him that not knowing his own daughter was dating his business partner would just make it worse when it’s not that big a deal. They wanted to keep their relationship private for a while. People do it all the time. And yes Richard is screwing Jason over. Mainly so he won’t lose his pension (which sucks cause Jason doesn’t deserve this at all either) but I always thought that the fact that Loreli was dating Jason and he didn’t know was part of it. Honestly Emily and Richard can be mean and horrible when they want to. It’s another reason that Loreli has distanced herself from her parents. In this instance Richard is screwing over Jason and Emily treating Loreli like she did something wrong cause she doesn’t share details of her life with her.
