2021-06-12 03:08:15 +0000 UTCI felt sexual tension between David and Stevie from the first episode, and I was like, very surprised to the point where I was doubting myself, so I looked up whether they get together and spoiled it for myself (not the specifics but just that they did indeed hook up at least). Still very happily surprised and giddy though, when they did. It's a rarity that a male character be so flamboyant and be pansexual/bisexual. It certainly happens in real life, though, and it was a welcome surprise to the queer (especially the bi/pan) community to have that portrayed on tv.

2021-06-12 02:21:07 +0000 UTCI find this a outstanding episode of the series, and I remember it being the point where I moved from vaguely liking the series to definitely loving it. So many great elements: the "wine" exchange that everyone has mentioned; the dinner party that gave Ted some quirks of his own (his life seems to be mail-ordered, and he can't take the hint and let uncomfortable topics drop); Twyla's continuing ability to cheerily mention a horrifying story about some member of her extended family; and Johnny & Moira doing their best to fit into a neighborhood backyard party (hey, if they didn't have Hawaiian shirts, at least they wore tropical-resort clothes). By this point, the show has also successfully walked Roland back from the absolute disgusting creature he was in the beginning. Now he's not gross, merely kind of a doofus but not malicious. In fact he and Johnny had a nice conversation about expectations for children. Whatever the lacks of Schitt's Creek as a place to live, nobody there seems to be homophobic.

2021-06-11 17:58:16 +0000 UTCi also really loved johnny's talk with roland; he supports his son, and his only hang up is the fact that his son has had to go through hardships. i thought it was such a beautiful perspective from a father and even more so as they are real father and son and i'm sure that writing came from a personal place. in a world where we're so used to seeing unsupportive parents in shows and movies, it's so nice to see it treated in such an accepted way. johnny loves and supports and his son, the only struggle he has is seeing any time that david has been put through struggles. i thought that was really beautiful. this whole episode....it just had this comfortable, safe and loving feeling that is way too often lacking. and i think both eugine and david have spoken about that but i can't remember the exact things they said.
