New challenge watch one episode without looking at your phone

athena77

This season pays homage to all past seasons. In 7X1, when the First was talking to Spike he said "we're going back to the beginning". That means big things (like the First) and small things (like not remembering Andrew's name and calling him Tucker's brother or reminding us that Xander was a soldier in Season 2's Halloween episode) are all in reference to what has happened or had been said over the past 6 seasons of Buffy. The big things are crucial to understanding what is going on this season and the "next level" danger the group is in. The small things are almost Easter Egg-like callbacks that increase the enjoyment for the fans. There's much you will be able to do to help you catch the small things, but maybe for the big things you can look at synopses (or at least the past episode descriptions on IMDB) for past seasons to remind yourself of plots of past episodes.

You don't understand the story because you missed key details while looking at your phone? Well I'm just shocked.

EVERYTHING in this season has a reason! Ur missing dialogue bread crumbs the size of a whole loaf… please look up

Everything gets cleared up, don't worry.

Dawn is better at fighting because, if you remember the beginning of the season, she's had personal training from Buffy. The other guys haven't had that. The demon wasn't The Master; they actually look quite different side by side. Like The First said, 'you wanna know what a real vampire looks like'. During the series, we know that vampires got tainted with humans, so they have become more human like. The Master was one of the oldest Vampire's, that's why he looked different and bared a resemblance to a 'real vampire'.

The villain is The First (or The First Evil) who was the villain in the season 3 episode called Amends. What we learned in that episode is that The First can take the shape of any person that has died. In the Climax, The First takes the form of Jenny Calendar and tries to convince Angel to kill himself and he is going to. He waits for the sun to rise on a hill and end it but it ends up snowing and the sun never comes out. Pretty dark stuff actually.

Go back and watch the Christmas episode from Season 3 called Amends. That’s the one where a malevolent spirit called The First Evil tried to convince Angel to kill Buffy, and later changed to trying to convince him to kill himself. The First Evil took on the form of a number of different victims of Angel to haunt him, including Jenny Calendar. His blinded Harbingers were also featured in that episode, under the dead Christmas trees. That will help get you caught up on this season’s Big Bad.

i'm not a huge fan of this episode. there were a lot of scenes that fell flat for me (willow and andrew's confrontation outside the butcher shop -- anya/xander trying to intimidate andrew). i found these scenes super cringey. but to answer your questions...yes that was the council that got blown up. and no, the villain here is not the master from season 1. "the first" was in the episode amends from season 3. that is why buffy said she's faced this entity before.

Nope...they arnt just trying to get to the finish line this season has a really clear path and they know exactly where they are going. Hopefully "the first" gets cleared up for you.
