This isn't specific to TVD either. I hate when shows build up a threat or major story all year nd then dispose of it in the first episode of the next season. It feels like a major waste of our time.

Francesca getting them was the big season 1 finale twist. Her and her pack should have been at least a 6-episode arc before being dealt with.

It just logically wouldn’t make sense to have them as a super threat for the mikaeksons, when there are no stakes for them. I think it’s better than dragging out a “threat” that we all know (and saw) could be snuffed out in a single night, so I prefer this route. But your opinion is also valid.

2022-01-27 20:50:43 +0000 UTCThis will always happen with season premieres. 4 out of 5 times you react to a season premiere for any show, you will feel that something was rushed out the door. It happens consistently. Often, even those who watched it as it aired live could feel that way somewhat, but it is amplified for you because you watch it one week later, not months. Those of us who saw it live get the full effect of the months that Hailee and Klaus have gone without seeing their new born child, the months that they've been cowering from the wolves, etc. I just kind of wish that so often when watching a premiere you didnt let the "rushing" of something ruin the episodes so much for you. It happens with smallville, supernatural, a bunch of shows where something gets resolved in the first episode that was an issue in the last season finale, and you will always feel its rushed. You havent spent months like the characters and the audience that waited felt. As for confusion in this episode, as others have said you looked away for long moments and missed some things. The girl who joined Marcel at the end had the camera linger on her OFTEN when the group of humans was brought to him to try and recruit people. No one watching this episode should have had any issue knowing who she was, which is why the scene cut right there with no elaboration when she came in at the end. Cami also didn't have to invite anyone into her house, they're werewolves not vampires.

Francesca and the wolves going out so quickly and easily was a bit disappointing. I like what’s to come too but I’d have preferred if Francesca was a bigger threat that last at least 6 episodes this season.

I defnitely prefer the new actor for Finn but I don't want to spoil anything. You were confused on a few things; How could the werewolves get inside Cami's place? Only vampire have to be invited in. How come they can't bring back Hope? Esther & the witches are the main threat not the werewolves. Even if they still think she's making moves from the grave. The girl that showed up at Marcels. You must have missed his recruitment speech near the beginning when he told the compelled humans to leave and only return if they want to be vampires. Jackson (the missing werewolf) - I believe that actor was filming something else and his availability was limited but he'll be back.

The reason why they sent the baby away was because of the general status of the whole city and each faction; yes, the wolves and specifically Franchesca and the ones with the 12 rings were high on the list because of the effect they have on Klaus, but they weren't the only threat, not even the biggest one I would say... Their biggest enemy was and continues to be the Witches and the covens, they don't know that Esther is walking around in the body of a Harvest girl but they knew that since they consecrated Esther in NO soil that she turned the entire Witch community against the child. Klaus said it at the end, the reasons why they can't just go get the child... The witches are still a huge problem, who unlike Franchesca they are specifically targeting the child; The Wolves, Franchesca might be dead but there is still an entire pack that is now in disarray but very much against the Mikaelsons... And like you saw in that last scene Esther is going after the wolves in order to control them and get them on her side and therefor still a weapon against the Mikaelsons. I think the best way I can put it for now it's that the real threat carrying over from the season finale to this new season was not Franchesca herself, it was the rings... The rings that will allow any wolf to control their shift and get all the perks; that is the real problem, the knowledge it's out there for the Witches to capitalize and like you saw with Esther, that is exactly what she is doing... She is planning to get control over the wolves by making those rings and having every wolf come begging for one and swearing loyalty to her.

2022-01-26 04:31:24 +0000 UTCGenevieve mentioned that Esther & the New Orleans witches will keep coming for Hope because they want her consecrated at their cemetery for more power for the coven. The only way that they could keep Hope out of their radar is have them think she is already dead. She is under a cloaking spell where they can not track her at all. At this time Haley has no idea when she will see her daughter again. That can be many years from now. So, it does feel to her like she lost her completely. Rebekah's actress wanted to continue playing her character, but at the same time did not want to be far away from her home (I believe she was living in Australia) for too long at a time so she can also concentrate on her family. This is why we're seeing her off and on.
