there's no way you're a grown adult throwing a tantrum and name calling strangers online like that? lmao yikes.

The original watch order: Buffy 7x08: Sleeper Buffy 7x09: Never Leave Me Buffy 7x10: Bring on the Night Buffy 7x11: Showtime Angel 4x07: Apocalypse, Nowish Angel 4x08: Habeas Corpses Buffy 7x12: Potential Buffy 7x13: The Killer in Me Angel 4x09: Long Day's Journey Angel 4x10: Awakening The updated reactor watch list: Buffy 7x08: Sleeper Buffy 7x09: Never Leave Me Buffy 7x10: Bring on the Night Angel 4x07: Apocalypse, Nowish Angel 4x08: Habeas Corpses Buffy 7x11: Showtime Buffy 7x12: Potential Angel 4x09: Long Day's Journey Angel 4x10: Awakening I believe most reactors now are reacting to the updated watch list as there are not so many big chunks of one show at once.

CeNedra

My God, will the a$$ sucking never end with this guy? Good grief, talk about insufferable. He's almost as insufferable as paid reactors who spend more time looking down at their phones than watching the video they're supposed to be reacting to. Obviously, he reads SOME of the comments since he specifically mentioned being told he misses things because he looks down. And guess what? He still isn't that into you, even after reading your many comments where you swoop in unsolicited to play the insufferably sympathetic Captain Save-a-Ho. Because he's mentioned you zero times. Maybe he just doesn't see your comments. Who knows. Have fun coming back to check these comments for more replies for you to insufferably respond to. LMAO.

i was referring to the condescending tone of people who post spoilers. go back and re-read my initial post carefully. posting spoilers is insufferable and ruins the viewing experience for alot of people new to the fandom. stephen already said thats one of the reasons why he doesn't always read the comments. so people swooping in here to complain about him "not reading the comments" is comical and asinine lol. its almost as if they care more about him reading their comments than they do about his viewing experience and enjoyment of the show. why would he read comments when this is how people act in the comments section. and as if posting spoilers isn't tacky enough, you have people like the poster above using childish phrases like "a$$ sucking" just to prove a point. that sort of behavior IS insufferable. and i hope for stephen's sake he doesn't waste his time reading comments because of it. :)

Just thought I'd point out this interesting bit of hypocrisy from cil: "...and the overall condescending tone of some posters. if i was him, i wouldn't read the comments either. lol the buffy fandom can be insufferable sometimes." So basically, the "Buffy fandom" as a group are expected to be civil while it's completely fine for people like cil to labelΒ them as "insufferable." In no way is that condescending behavior at all. Liberally punctuating your statements with lol's all over the place doesn't make your statements seem any less disingenuous either, since nobody here really believes you're actually laughing - as opposed to- raging behind your computer screen.

*Yawn* I rest my case. πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ’€

thank you for proving my point about "insufferable members of the fandom" by resorting to name calling strangers on the internet lol. and i know you're not referring to me because pointing out how obnoxious people who leave spoilers are doesn't make one an "a$$ sucking enabler"...but i doubt whoever you're insulting will read your comment anyway. have fun going off by yourself though. lmao

cil

Not nearly as insufferable as a$$-sucking enablers…but go off. πŸ˜…

LOL Steven: "Guys, I don't think I'm missing anything" Also Steven: "So, Master is the big bad this season..." Sorry, no hate here, I just thought that was funny. It actually took me a minute on the first watch to put two and two together also. When Buffy said she fought those guys before, I remember I was confused cos I totally forgot that one episode way back when in season 3. It was a decent episode, but for some reason didn't really stick with me and it took me a little to connect the dots on my first watch. Regarding the potential slayers, I think other people went over it. I just think the show doesn't do a very good job explaining it, so it is a little confusing. The general consensus in the fandom is that Buffy is removed from the slayer line after she died(the first time) and now sort of an anomaly, and the slayer line runs through Faith now. BUT, they do seem to say a lot this season that when Buffy dies, one of the potentials will become a slayer. Also, on the other hand, after Buffy died in season 5 no other slayer was called. So my opinion is that this whole thing is a bit of an oversight by the showrunners.

charmed_olive

i understand why he doesn't read the comments though...with the amount of spoilers people leave and the overall condescending tone of some posters. if i was him, i wouldn't read the comments either. lol the buffy fandom can be insufferable sometimes.

Tracking the slayer line. In Season 1 Buffy is the only slayer. She was "activated" when the previous slayer died. The council only knew about her once she received the slayer power. Then Buffy dies and Kendra (one of many "potential" slayers) gets imbued with the slayer powers. Kendra had been found early by the council and had already started her training, even though she did not have the inherent "strength and skill" that comes with the powers. If Buffy had stayed dead Kendra would be the only slayer, however Buffy comes back so now there are two. When Kendra died she passed the power on to Faith. If Faith had died at the end of Season 3 (rather than going into a coma) the "slayer power" would go to the next potential, possibly one of the three girls in this episode who had already been identified by the council as potential. Or, like Buffy, it could have been someone random that the council knew nothing about until the slayer powers passed to them. When Buffy died at the end of Season 5, no new Slayer was activated because the "line" of "one in each generation" now goes through Faith. Therefore, during the time between Season 5 and 6, there was only one slayer again (Faith) until Buffy was brought back, and then there were two again. Buffy is able to retain her slayer power, but has essentially been removed from the slayer line, therefore her death has no impact on "future" slayers. These three potentials have no slayer powers. They were simply found by the council early and were taught about vampires and trained as fighters. Essentially the only difference between them and the rest of the Scooby gang is that they have more formal fighting training and if Faith dies, one of them might become the next slayer.

Quantoto

Aw, yes. The potential slayers. This just about stops the season cold for me.

Yeah I was wondering if this means he doesn't even read the comments at all sometimes because people have tried to warn him about stuff. That combined with the phone which can be a problem on Supernatural and Smallvile too. lol. It's like he is getting upset about watching a separate season than he is actually watching. They say everything in the episode and then people in the comments reminded about the the s3 episode but when this one starts he is still talking about the Master so that means he didn't read the comments. It's not spoilers. In the episode they finally reveal that it is The First and if someone remembers they would think back to s3 but if it's been awhile and they have a lot of shows going on like him at least we are here to remind him but it doesn't do any good if the comments get ignored and then he goes into the next episode thinking the sky is green instead of blue. lol.

Angel 4x07 is meant to be watched after Buffy 7x11, per the SlayAlive guide.

Anthony

I have to look back to be sure but he’s missing 4x07 right? He’s mostly been on the right schedule but I think it was 4x07 of Angel was supposed to scheduling wise be after β€œConversations with Dead People.” Luckily it’s not a big deal yet especially if he plans to just watch Angel 4x07 & 4x08 back-to-back but I’ll recommend watching the episodes after in the guide order.

Tia

nooo i need me some angel already lol. I was actually wondering which watch order steven is going by because every watch order i found online doesn't match. Anyone know?

john segun doe

Also, I understand your confusion around the potentials, but if you think back to season 2 with Kendra, she tells Buffy that when her parents realized she had a calling, they sent her to her watcher at a young age. So young she couldn't remember them. But at that point, Buffy wasn't even called (since her and Kendra were a similar age.) They were "Potential" slayers. The council made a point of tracking these girls down and getting them into training so that the next one called would already have background information and combat training. Unfortunately, there are (or were) *SO* many potentials, it's impossible to find them all. Which is why Buffy was called without any of the training that Kendra had. What the first wants is to track down ALL of the potential slayers and kill them so that when it kills Buffy and Faith, there is no new replacement and the slayer line dies out.

AllieDoh

Lmao I was curious whether his rant would still be applicable now that he’s watched the episode and sees that he was WAY off on where he thought the season was going..

Fuiono Ching Sung

Did you go on a huge rant about the big bad being the master from season one? Lmao, that is so funny to me.

AllieDoh

Potentials: The Watchers Council's main job was to make sure each Slayer is trained in her skills to complete her job duties once she's Chosen. You can imagine the problem with this: How do they know which one girl in all the world will be the new Chosen One once the previous Slayer has died? As it turns out...the Council discovered ways of tracking down girls all over the world who exhibited strong potential for becoming the next Chosen One. The Slayer you mentioned, Kendra (from season 2), told Buffy how serious her parents had taken this calling for their daughter. Apparently, the Watchers Council had good reasons to believe that Kendra was among those girls who had strong potential to be a Slayer. Her parents opted to allow her to be raised by the Watcher that was assigned to train her as a Potential Slayer. And all she ever would have been was a Potential Slayer...if Buffy had never drowned for 2 minutes at the end of season 1 at the hands of the Master. It was only upon Buffy's death that Kendra the Potential Slayer became Kendra the Vampire Slayer. At that point, the Slayer line went through Kendra, making her the active Slayer. Meaning when Kendra died, the Slayer line would continue through the next Potential Slayer chosen, which turned out to be Faith. The thing is...out of all the Potential Slayers in the world, there was no guarantee which one would be Chosen next. Which is why the First started tracking these Potentials directly and started eradicating them, which was shown in the opening of minutes of the first few episodes of this season. That was one of the many things people said you missed when you were looking down at your phone. Which - btw - you majorly improved on in this episode again. Kudos!

Fuiono Ching Sung

So it's still and always has been that there is one slayer at a time except for Buffy and Faith. These potentials aren't slayers yet, unless Faith dies but they are the girls who could be the next slayer. They don't have any powers or senses, they are completely helpless humans. The first wants to kill them all so that when the actual slayers (Buffy and Faith) are killed, no new slayer is called.
