I really hate how they just brush off the fact that Amerie outed Ant....like, they made it so casual. As if she didn't out him? He even said his mom is making him go to church more, meaning he was outed to his homophobic parents and the show made it seem like that's nothing.

2023-06-16 19:49:23 +0000 UTCright!! they did such a good job!! i got my adhd diagnosis at 30 and my autism diagnosis at 31. seeing quinni on screen was such a healing and validating thing for me. i know there are people on the spectrum that genuinely do identify with the sheldon coopers of media but seeing quinnie....a girl like me when growing up i felt so confused and out of place....her character heals me in a way. that scene was done BRILLIANTLY! for me, it's the grocery store, but also some loud restaurants. it feels like you're underwater and the way they played with the sound and MADE the audience feel what she feels, that drowning, anxiety feeling, it was just brilliant! also to stephen i appreciate your reaction to quinnie. it's one of empathy without treating her like a child. too many reactors i've watched infantilize her. you're protective of her and empathize without being like "aww sweet child uwu we must protecc at all costs!!!" like just THANK YOU for not doing that lol there's a balance between feeling protective of a character and then treating said character like an incapable baby and too many reactors have swung to that extreme. thank you for not doing that and for having tha balance. i just appreciate that a lot

2023-04-21 16:39:31 +0000 UTCi have some sensory and auditory processing issues (thanks, adhd) and i love that restaurant scene. it's such a good representation of what it's like to be unable to hear and understand someone right next to you because people across the room may be chewing loudly or clinking silverware, or have a weird laugh, and the music is too loud, etc. just all the sounds around you and your brain cannot filter out the unimportant ones no matter how much you want to focus on the person talking to you and how exhausting that can be - not to mention people getting mad at you for it ("are you even listening to me?"). love quinni, love how the show handles her neurodivergence, love her friends who get her.

2023-04-21 11:08:18 +0000 UTCI’m so glad you like this show. It’s sooo underrated. I am pretty sure in the first episode Sasha and Misty are exes (anyone else feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. I’m not certain), and seeing that Misty got with someone while they used to be together maybe started a fight. Not super clear on the situation but they are broken up. This show is such a great balance of drama, comedy, real shit, cool outfits, awesome personalities and with diverse characters and interesting character arcs for almost everyone in the show.

2023-04-21 03:30:34 +0000 UTCi LOVE how much you love this show. i figured it might be your speed and i am so happy it is!! i'll keep supporting/sponsoring an episode a month. some things about the episode: quinni: the actress that plays her is actually autistic herself and the show creators/writers let her really have input on the character. girls with autism are often misdiagnosed/ignored/etc. because it doesn't present the same in AFAB people as it does in males. quinni is VERY much how an autistic girl is. it is a spectrum but she is one of the best representations i have ever seen and i love it. the actress is a youtuber and talks a lot about her life. the line "okay SIA" is in reference to sia's awful movie "music" which was absolute trash and disgusting to people with autism. the actress made a youtube video speaking out against that movie, so that little "okay sia." is a nod to that. sasha: she's an interesting one. you kind of made a comment about quinni needing to hear her out when she was walking off after sasha's whole "but you don't seem autistic" thing which would actually be very valid of quinni to do that. i get that people might be ignorant, but sasha's tone seemed kind of problematic to me and i totally get why quinni would walk off in that moment. harper: i love that we get more and more of what happened that night. it slowly unfolds through more and more flashbacks and i think that's so awesome from a storytelling perspective. it really makes you hooked and makes you invested in the story. a lot of people dislike harper's character from the jump. i'm so glad you have empathy for her. because it's very clear she's bee n through something and that anger and lashing out is all coming from a place of trauma. i LOVED her softness when she told amarie there's a bathroom upstairs, or whatever it was. she looked sorry that amarie fell into the pool and you could see that inspite of everything it's clear she still very much loves her friend too. everything is just such a mess right now. cash!!! i'm so happy we're getting more of cash!! he's an interesting one. darren: i LOVE how darren is with quinni. the whole "we don't touch the quinni" and when they said "we live in this bathroom now" - that honestly gave me goosebumps. they knew exactly how to handle quinni's autistic meldown, or verge of autistic meltodwn, and how to help her through it, no questions asked. you can tell they've helped her before and know exactly what to do. i like that he sent amarie away in that moment and that amarie understood. it was an intimate moment and quinni just needed some time to decompress. again, it makes me so, so happy you're enjoying this show as much as you are. it makes for such an fun reaction to enjoy the show along with you. i'll continue sponsoring it, and i'm so excited for what's to come!
