Interactive Storytelling

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Cambrian does this and more often than not the votes results are decided by which option leads to smut, which while entertaining to read, takes away from the actual story. Empirically I have learnt that the fan base is horny AF and doesn't care about the story quality when smut is on the table. I would rather you not give them the possibility of ruining stories this way. If you do polls, maybe limit it to what POV the people are interested on, rather than actual choice in how the story evolves.

Everyone is different but most authors find it easier to write what interests them and as a reader I feel that it’s also easy to see when that happens as the quality of work is better. If you have a story where you yourself have 2 or more ways you think it could progress, polling your audience for their input is a great way to give them a voice and keep them interested. Likewise I have seen authors throw out 3 or 4 story ideas they have and let their readers pick which one they start on next. Getting feedback from your readers is always good but I do worry sometimes when it becomes a “choose your own story”. Everything then becomes formulaic with tons of binary choices and IMO the quality of the writing and story inevitably drops
