Yeah sure we can do that! I've been waiting for you before checking out that cave anyways, pretty much everyone can barely remember what happened there, so it must be super boring even if they seemed to like it.

I like this idea, but instead of outright hypnosis, a few bottles of "Mysterious Brew" drop (minor mind-numbing light effect on user each use, and if user is on VR, slightly raising suggestibility if 5+ Brews are used in less then 30 minutes). Mysterious Brew effects are only slightly better then standard potions with the same effects, and standard potions don't do the mind-numbing light effect. Rumor was started by higher level players as a joke on the new players. Those players were a bit mad but got a good chuckle out of the joke, so they keep the rumor circulating.
