Gyro reminds me of my buddy from France who was the inspiration behind my first ever one-way trip and being an avid mountaineer dragged me to climb Kazbek summit in Georgia. He was like that older brother who doesn't go easy on you (I fucking hated his guts when on the descent my knee started to hurt and I was getting behind and he would just straight up ignore my cries for help), 'if he dies he dies' style tutoring but in the end always there to help you (I think...). He was very very well off and such was just lowkey backpacking everywhere for years (I mean everywhere) and then occasionally spend a fuck ton eg to do an Everest expedition or go on some luxury cruise thing. And he was fucking crazy. On Kazbek (5000m) everyone would pause to acclimatize while I would be persuaded that we don need dat shit and one day up-down from the basecamp (he fucking went blind for some days afterwards because he was puting his shades up all the time). Because of always trying to skip established trekker stops we once camped at an abandoned village in Nepal (because none of the guesthouse owners expected trekkers so they left). Like 'man, gimme the "JUICE"' while NFSing in a rented car and totally not mixing redbull and vodka in a 40 degree heat (just don't) crazy. There was this dickish insane energy to the guy while in dangerous situations he was super professional and calculated and when you get to know him a kind-hearted guy (I think...). And being a noob traveler I was definitely a disabled Joestar in this dynamic (like 'buy trekking boots and leave em on the bus so that I have to suffer in oversized spare a hostel owner gave me through the whole of Annapurna' disabled). Yeah...
