I promise that this season picks up but in a different way than the first season. In my opinion, as a whole… this is the single greatest season of anime ever made.

It made feasible the farming of more fertile but also harder to work soils. This was also around the time modern proper horse yokes that let the horse push into the yoke rather than pulling it behind them. Leading to the horse gradually replacing oxen as the work animal on a farm.

But I want to say during the winter rocks in northern climates, freezing ground water pushes rocks up to the surface. Which then needs to be removed from the field to keep them from damaging the plow when you till the field.

2025-03-12 15:48:35 +0000 UTCSverkel the wise has appeared. Sverkel is one of my favorite characters from this season and I have his relationship with Snake. A little info on the timeline: Askelad died in Feb 1014. That was the same year Canute was crowned and Thorfinn was sold as a slave. 1015 Canute deals with Lord Eadric and Mercia. Late June 1015 Ketil buys Einar. September 1015 Einar and Thorfinn met Sverkel. In Episode 5 we cover 3 years with Canute, we started with Canute meeting with Eadric in 1015 and then move through King Ethelred II in April 1016 to King Edmund's death in November of 1016 and finally to Canute being Crowned King of England in 1018 at the age of 22. Episode 6 takes us back to September 1015. The next few episodes will continue forward in time but it will be a few episodes until Thorfinn's time catches up to Canute's timeline in Episode 5. Thorfin is 19 when he meets Sverkel in 1015. A couple of notes MAPPA gave use a couple mini short episodes then can be watched on their Youtube channel - Epsiodes 6.5 and Epsiode 18.5. Also, there is a new opening at epsiode 13 and I personally feel it has visual spoilers for the second half of the season. I'd suggest waiting until at least epsiode 17 to watch it.
