You can see as Valentine lifts the sword, Rafael turned around and with vampire speed got out of there. Also note that Alec was looking for Magnus for a good few hours as it is already daylight when he finds him outside the Institute.

2019-06-19 14:12:36 +0000 UTCIt was not just Izzy that was addicted to Rafael's vampire venom but also Rafael was addicted to Izzy's Nephilim blood. You wiwill notice that he refused a hit before he went out. Vampires have quick healing abilities but only if they feed. So after Simon fed on Jace, the neck wound healed.

2019-06-19 14:09:28 +0000 UTCI know I'm super late to this but just in case anyone is watching this at a later time and is curious I will comment anyway. The whole soul sword arc is done so much better in the book. First of all, Valentine is hiding on the ship all this time. Secondly he needs downworlder blood to activate the sword (so vampire, werewolf, cilie and warlock). He kidnaps Simon and takes him to the ship. Then he slits his throat to fill a whole bucket of blood before leaving him to die. Jace finds Simon almost dead and gives him his blood because he knows Clary would be devastated if Simon died (at the time, Clary has no idea Simon is dying). Then Clary uses a rune to destroy the ship and kills basically all of Valentine’s men. As they ride in boats back to shore the sun starts to rise and everyone freaks out because Simon has nowhere to hide. But then the sun rises and he doesn’t die. Also, the whole brother/sister thing isn’t revealed until way later. There’s a lot of false incest in the books…

2018-09-03 13:24:57 +0000 UTCI had a problem with Raphael surviving as well but then remember he has vampspead so I guess he would make it out On that same note Simon didn’t make a run for it, he stayed with Clary, bless. Also vampire venom does not make you a vampire, it’s more like a drug like ecstacy or heroin and is said to give kind of a sexual pleassure. To become a vampire you need to die with a vampires blood in your system. And yes blood was what was needed to heal Simon otherwise he would have dried up and turned to dust. I want to tell you an few things without spoiling anything ( it's hard to do...lol) Simon is still a vampire, the next will explain not dying from the soul sword and the sun not hurting him. If you want me to explain how Jace and Clary are both pure angel blood I will.You might want to watch a few vampire and warewolf movies to understand some of the lore...lol.I will tell you that the book Valentine was a much more hateful person....and hated Clary, he blamed her for taking Jocelyn away from him. As always thanks!!!
