Hadn't watched that since it aired and enjoyed both parts hugely. Michelle Gomez is an absolute G as Missy.

Mark Ward

That’s a good link/Easter egg. It’s intentional

Ward Junior

Was interesting to hear you're planning on coming to MCM Comic Con at the end of October, Will have to see about coming to whatever meet up you plan :3

The first time I watched it I cried for Davros. Actual tears were streaming down my face. I was expecting the deceit so that’s some pretty powerful stuff if you know it’s coming but the scenes still hit you.

Post regeneration I think the Doctor had an unusually long adjustment period. We get glimmers here and there but series 9 is when he truly becomes the Doctor. The original Master was patterned to be a Moriarty/Bond villain. More Bondish villain visually from his attire. Due to cinematic influences of the 70s era. Roger Delgado is the standard. The crypt keeper Master was a clever way to bring him back after Delgado's death. Anthony Ainley was the closest visually to him. Having said that loved John Simms take and really enjoy Michelle Gomez's Missy. This season is different from the last in a lot of ways. Some really timey wimey stuff is coming your way. Prepare yourself Doctor Dooski.

Talking of which, you're catching up with where Who is now. When you do, will you be going to the spin offs, or trying more classic Who? Maybe alternate between the two?

Mr K

Definitely prefer the first episode, but they're both good. I like Missy, though she's the sort of character that runs the risk of being overused, but they did the same with The Master during the 70's and 80's.

Mr K

With regards to Capaldi being so much more comfortable in the role - I think it's also that the Doctor is more comfortable with himself. Series 1 he was in a state of confusion and flux over who he was, whether he was a good man, who exactly he was supposed to be now.

Dani C

:) Yay. Been looking forward to this one. Not your fault, but the pauses during that first scene meant that while you got the main plot points, I think you missed a lot of the humour - highly recommend rewatching that first scene :)

Dani C

Yeah, maybe there is a timey-wimey excuse behind it. I actually thought the Doctor did hear the Dalek say 'mercy' in the episode 'Dalek' - but I looked it up and it was 'pity'.

Laura_Ali

But the doctor didn't see the dalek say mercy, and he went to the past and persuaded Davros to enable the daleks to say mercy

Oliver Harrison

The mercy thing bugged me too.

Mr K

I love this two-parter, and it was amazing seeing so much of Missy. The only niggle I have is the Doctor figuring out that the Dalek is different because it says 'mercy' because Daleks can't say that...we've seen the Daleks say 'mercy' before (I definitely recall one saying it to River). The 'I show mercy' line would've been better to say first, since that's the un-Dalek part - or even just the fact that it wasn't trying to kill him. But other than that teeny tiny issue, all of this two-parter is solid.

Laura_Ali

Same:)

Tandem Yeti

I love this premier so much.
