Also, there was The Sara Jane Smith Adventures that spun off maybe a year after this was shown. We will see her again. :)

The doctor had to travel back to his home planet, and humans weren't allowed so he thought he had dropped her home. Sarah Jane was a fan favorite companion of the classic series.
