Louis’ father never felt a fatherly connection to his son. the moment he was born, he was his replacement. his student. in the original story, Louis’s mother died in childbirth which caused Henri (his father) to blame him for his wife’s death. he never forgave him, which caused Louis to catch heavy father issues (as you can imagine)
