Over 30 seconds of episode 3 already animated.

Things are going a bit faster with help, especially considering this first scene has so many characters moving around.

I'm starting to get a feel for the new workflow, and figuring out what I need money- and time-wise to increase production and train more animators in Blender. I've already run through the allotted amounts this month for the other Blender animators inbetweening with me, but holy hell, it's nice not animating every single thing by myself! I've been able to start on new sc...

AFIS Episode Three - 4K Promotional Art #1

I'm going to be making some of these pieces of 4K promo art representing various scenes from AFIS 3 for my $10-tier people. Here's the first piece!

Changing Patron Goals, Adding a $3 Tier

I haven't updated any of this since 2016, when I was living in a camper by the creek.

No current Tier amounts will be changed, of course, but I will be adding a $3 Tier for those $1 Tier members who wish to slightly upgrade, not wanting a huge chunk of a single dollar going to fees.

The Goals will be bumped a little bit, according to my current costs of living, as well as what I need beyond the "Full-Time" Goal, in order to get support from other streaming animators in the crew, w...

A Fox in Space - Complete Soundtrack 2023

I uploaded a video of the full soundtrack for both episodes so far.

I will have the soundtrack available for everyone with the $20 tier, as soon as I get all the files put together.

I've made a very, very big, terrible mistake.

I've just noticed this in the past few minutes, and I wanted to address this right now:

For some reason, my printout of patrons I used for the end credits is missing a lot of people who have been here pre-2016; people who contributed a LOT to this project.

I sincerely apologize, and I promise to have all of the names corrected when I release the definitive MP4 version of the cartoon for personal download. In the meantime, I will list all of the names in the description of the vide...

I hope you enjoyed the premiere!

Animating the last shot of the last scene for A Fox in Space episode 2.

I'll get it done tonight or tomorrow, then I'll have the rest of the week to polish the episode and add the credits. Still on for March 26th release, and the runtime will be 40 minutes.

I'll keep you posted!

Work Begins Today on the Final Scene of Episode 2

Polishing up some script and warming up my best Andross voice as we get the scene assets and storyboards together.

I'm still going to try for a release date of March 26th, but we'll see as the weeks go by.

Thanks again to everybody for your support!

End of February Report

I'm now animating the last 20 seconds of the train scene, then it's on to the last and final scene of episode 2, which will be 1-2 minutes long. Once everything has been animated, I will finish putting in the opening/closing credits, and spend about a week polishing everything before release.

I'm still trying my best to hit the March 26th release date for episode 2 (30th US Star Fox anniversary), but there is a small possibility I won't. If episode 2 is indeed late, it will be days late...

ADDRESSING THE RUMOR....

YES, Krystal will be in the third and final episode of "A Fox in Space," possibly along with a very special voice actress.

Since I'm getting very close to the end of episode 2, I was working on some "first drafts" of the character designs for episode 3. I picked Krystal, Fox, Fara, and Wolf to display today. I'm not sure exactly what she'll look like once I'm done drafting her design, but this is probably going to be pretty close. Probably going to draft up Slippy and Falco nex...

Leaving for Venom (4K Wallpapers)

When this scene is finished, that's all of Act I and II in the bag, leaving only the final "train" scene and finale in Act III.

In the meantime, have some 4k's I rendered after getting the scene set up last night.

Work completed in September

As of last night, here's everything I've gotten done in the past month. There's still some polish and foley sound effects to add.

After that, I'm spending the rest of October finishing the last little piece of the Arwings scene missing from Act 1. I'm pretty sure that alone will put us over the 30-minute mark of total runtime.

Once that Arwing scene is finished, all that remains is the final scene-and-a-half at the end of Act 3, which will probably take 2-3 more months. ...

Video Preview [4K] - Hangar Scene with Bill, Miyu, and Fay

Here's the work from May and June. The last minute with Bill was previously animated, but getting the other two minutes of animation made in only two months isn't bad!

Next up is the after-scene where Wolf takes the ship, and does what he does best.

Thanks for your continued support, everybody. I'm working on this as much as I can, and doing my best to stay on track for December/January release.

As far as my future work is concerned, Adobe's gone for good! It's wonderful doing everything in Blender. Here's a couple of stills from a few of the shots I'm working on.

All Completed Scenes are now 4K. Back to animating the last few scenes...

It took a little over a month of long shifts, but every scene I've finished so far is now in true 4K. I went back to all the old Vegas and Adobe Animate files that I haven't touched for years, and re-exported and saved everything, so it doesn't just look like I took a 1080p video and stretched it. Every image of every background and every frame of animation is 3840x2160.

I've been making good progress, so I thought I would share a mostly-spoiler-free, mostly-finalized chunk of episode 2 with patrons who are interested in seeing the progress.

I'm making leaps and bounds in the finishing of this episode. Things are moving steadily, and scenes are consistently getting finished and polished.

2016-2021 Comparisons

As I'm getting toward the very end of episode 2, I'd like to share some comparisons of my style, from Adobe-laden 2016, to Blender-fueled 2021.

Here are some stills from the original concepts of the car and train scenes, and then how they ended up looking when I created them, having switched completely to Blender.

Fox McCloud is pictured as he looked in 2016's first episode, and how he will looks when I draw him now in 2021.

When Fox returns for episode 3, he, along wi...

"Customs Trouble" [WIP]

I've learned a lot of new, important Blender stuff while working this month. I just have some posters, doors, and things to add to the background and this scene will be finished. In the meantime, have a sneak-peek at the characters' exchanges.

Then, I will be moving onto the small train station and barcar scene where James and Peppy meet up with Pigma. Those pieces are already animated and only require voice placement and mouth movements.

Thanks to @Laphin and @Xiovox for their wo...

"Light bleeds" in my shading completely fixed by using cryptomattes

I shade my characters by blurring the 3d model layer and placing it in Overlay mode over the 2d artwork. If two characters have starkly different lighting and are right next to each other, the blurring of their models causes their lighting effects to "bleed" over onto one another, making the effects inaccurate.

Long story short, cryptomattes turn different pieces of a single render into separate, individual masks, making it easier to edit specific pieces of one layer in the Compositor.<...
