Tom of Finland 100 celebration!

Days ago I was aware of the date, thanks to Tom's Foundation. I remember I did a fanart almost 3 years ago in my traditional graphite style, paying hommage to the Artist well known style & technic. I post it here again as a bonus.

Tom of Finland 100 celebration (the struggle)

Especially for you, gotta share the struggle facing this not so easy project. I went from a simple face with hand on the cap thang to a full-lenghth all gear up in leather Tom's man!

I really had trouble on the sketch phase: I show you the first sketch, so messy it illustrates how much I did & redid stuff there. I had to produce a second *clean* sketch in order to clear things up to ink the drawing. I guess I will show you the full video process later.

Okay it's past midnight: it's Wednesday aka HUMPDAY! After the sketch, I did the usual simple ink, thick ink & tattooing on the guy. Coming next are shadows + background.

I really like how the digital inking can turn out.

Drawing characters #90 (NSFW background)

After shadows, here's the sexy suite! Still taking my time on this one, as it represents a lot what could actually look like the next comic. I inked the background, heavy on some black parts, matching the high contrast shadows version for the character.

I did try various textures & more stuff, will show you that next. I guess I will push to the coloring tests.

"Holding Out for a Hero!" (Step by step)

The complete creative process animated. I really like the result & the ongoing drawing. Especially how one is holding the neck while the other one is holding the dick. The look they exchange says it all, and you know what happens after!

Portraying Jon-Erik Hexum (sketch)

This actor was one of my first major crush as a teenager. In France we had the chance to get the second famous tv-serie "COVER UP" ("Espion Modèle" in french) he starred in, and unfortunately had a fatal incident during filming it. Here's the link to his story.

I was so obsessed with him I remember drawing the man, hehe! I had a suggestion on Youtube the past week and the serie showed up, such memories...

Back to this other new character of mine, showing his back & most of all his butt. Happy Hump Day! A bit of background here too, we'll see how this goes.

For the record I thought about an additional tattoo over the butt, back, but nothing original came to my head. For now!

A quick sketch of my character Nimo tonight + basic background. The goal here is to perform some ink style I gotta try, keeping the high contrast in mind. Right before, the full basic ink has to come first.

Following the inking, the infamous shadows! At this point, I'm really wondering where I will finally go. I do love the high contrast shadows, the big black solids do it for me BIG time, I love contrasts.

Portraying Taron Egerton (orange final)

I left him with simple inking. I tried different stuff, and here is the result. The orange suit is what he's sporting in the pic, from the movie, except here he's naked below hehe!

"Holding Out for a Hero!" (NSFW hair)

As I told at the lines stage, this is the facial hair + hair body. I really love him there, the pose, the legs, how he's holding his neck. It takes lot of time to draw this, but it's fundamental to get this rendering. Final stage coming very soon (in the page, actually!).

The tanktop incident! (NSFW)

You know me, I draw my men very VERY often naked. So I have to confess it happened several times while drawing this chapter that I forgot to draw our hero's tanktop, whereas he's sporting it for a while now. 

But I managed to see that soon enough. Until page 13! You can witness here on panel 5 I did all the way without the tanktop. When I realized it, I only could draw the clothing aside (below, as you see on the original sheet scanned, image 2).

I sea ya! (NSFW)

Today's throw back shows my interest in rendering water & wet bodies, back then. I was not thinking directly about LUST, although I knew I would have a character in the sea in the beginning of the second chapter. Who appeared to be a beautiful black hunk, hehe!

I remember the will to render the skin the best way possible, I needed to practice a lot. Well, truth is you ALWAYS have to practice! ;-)

Feeling your Hump! (NSFWish smoothy colors)

I almost forgot to get back to work on this one after the inking! Here is the final blend with colorful shadows + highlights & a quickie background thanks to Procreate.

There will be a last version with lots of hair body! Wanna train my hand on such time consuming feature that you know I perform a lot in the traditionnal rendering with graphite tools (mainly).

Happy Bear! (Final mix)

After the shadow stage, I was exploring ways to show this lovely bear on my social networks, trying showing out the sketch too, I mixed layers & stuff and this is the final version I wanna share. You guys see the HD version. It's funny to turn to negative your art sometimes, it's really something else!

As I reworked a bit this panel for the classic promotional image (seen through the big LUST letters), I thought it would be great for you dear patrons to see it in its full glory. I really love the hairy chest here, plus the blue touch.

From the latest page, an overview of the creative process. The final touch here was the lil speedlines I added at the last minute, just to enhance the fact he's a bit forcing him to go aaall the way.

Back to this character in this digital sketch, plus a background. I'm already wondering about the final rendering, especially the shadowing, black solids, lines, etc.

The character is sporting his odd metal thing on the pec, that you saw in some previous character sheets before. Drawing this more & more I got a clearer view how I want it to be.

Next step: full ink + hair!

Last stages for this one after classic inking, high contrast powah! It suits the pose, and I love some parts of the shadows hehe!

I just started another drawing of this character, this time with the actual metal parts he's got on his pec. Will try a real background too, sci-fi style.
