Lots of differences can be spotted from the final page on this one:
- First is the lonely balloon, that I finally put at the right end corner of page 4, to give all the space to the action & the art only.
- Second, the second panel was blurry in my mind & it shows here: I had a sense of the posing I wanted as he's driving Nimo inside the cell before he's getting forced against the wall. I wanted a curvy movement, and I had to go through various re...

The complete process of the panel, which was really fun to draw, although the pose is a bit extreme.

From last episode, page 5 sees him turning around in all his glory! I was very excited with the whole sequence, and it turned out the ocean was soOo long & hard to draw, ha!
Such sequence in my comics comes here & there, probably linked to my past when I was working for animated tv...

The drawing video of this dancer shows how many times I had to resize the half body in order to make it fly the way I wanted inside the digital page, hehe!

Another complete tour on a panel. As before I got 2 sketches: the naked body, then the tight clothing drawn above it. You also get the (too much?) heavy work on black solids & cross hatching, comparing to the *simple* line art!
This is also a way to show you the panel in a much bigger size, not cropped & no balloons. Just the art.

The Noire version looks again pretty different from the colored full page. It's like more dramatic & intense, there!

A work in progress sketch from the commission Magnus offered. It's gonna be an amazing project which involves several artists. I'm very honored & glad to take part in it.
Check out his patreon to discover much more, Magnus is a talented author & shares the art of many people! <3

I really enjoy a beautiful & meaningful portrait. This one of my fav, especially of him. I went far beyond was I going with the storyboard.

For this Throw Back Thursday, this is probably one of my finest illustration from 2019. I did a very simple still very delicate inking, all traditional, & the digital colors made the whole thing pop.
I like how the back seems muscular & heavy, only with the line art work. I realize if I was working that way digitally now, I would spare lots of time with the Nimo comic! XD

Another storyboard showing some differences from the final page, panels 1 & 2 got other angles & poses. It was fun to go for a very close close-up for Nimo for the third panel, I like him there, even more at this sketch stage.

One of my top fav from the second chapter, taken from page 4, right after the previous LUSTory.
From the start I thought about having a sequence, like a sort of animation when he turns around. I really dig what I came with at the time, still do. Funny note: the ocean took HOURS to draw, a nightmare!

Seeing double here! A simple training with ink on this illustration that turns different with few colors, heh! Love the contrast hairy / smooth.

I almost forgot to show you some of the sketches I made while training for this character, drawing my ass off with no references, only to get some dynamic poses. It's a very good exercise as it requires to stop being perfectionist & very demanding with your art!
I also tried some of the new brushes for inking I offered myself. Only one of the total set passed the test & I still use it on the shadowing / cross-hatching you see me performed on the second ...

I love that the still preview on this video is the naked sketch, haha! I took lots of pleasure starting the new chapter, with the main challenge is to match the previous one, as far as I can with the colors. The character is still very sexy to me, anyway I drawn him.

A throw back thursday showing once again how my traditional inking mixed with the digital colors. I guess you can read too how almost trembling the thin lines show.
Most visible on the original scanned drawing & inking. I drawn on such a bad art paper (you see how it's twisted, the scanner could not get the thing right).
And then magical Photoshop & hop, perfect colors!

A very detailed introspection inside this panel, and Nimo's suit, that's why I started with the naked sketch, hehe! You witness how I redraw on the top the suit for the final scenery.
I also show you the hard work put on the shadows, using ink, setting the spaces to work on the last step: the colors.
Bonus with the original storyboard of this panel: the attitude is there but the pose did change in the meantime.

On this 1st panel, you see a test background, like an intention note to the final thing. It's again a surprise to read how the colors give the depth & space in the panels of this comic. It's a very different way to draw comics, comparing to what I went for with the LUST comic series.

Following the previous LUSTORY on the second chapter, this is panel 2 from the 3rd page. It's such a casual thing to be thirsty & to show one's drinking, but DRAWING it like this pose is a living nightmare. At the time, I knew I had to get this pose done & it was SO HARD, the perspective is terrifying. I was unsure back then & I'm still unsure now LOL
I will draw again su...

You can spot here the changes made during production with the posing & the texts. That's the thing with lots of story: it changes a lot! I'm glad I succeeded with this page, as when I was drawing this storyboard, I felt it'd be a challenge. And yeah, it was!

I liked this pose in the context & also out of it. I just wish I went a bit bigger for the hand, all the more it's in the foreground.

A proud hunk for this Throw Back Thursday. Funny how I was not shy with the colors there, hehe! It matches the face, the global look a bit cartoony.
The cross-hatching looks a bit sketchy or messy to me, I learned a lot from this point & more & more with digital tools. Here it's all traditional, scanned & the colors are digital in Photoshop.

The sensitive illustration got its complete creative process.
Funny how the digital tools allow you to resize & correct things anytime you need! I like the last part with the big black solids as shadows + in the background, framing the whole drawing.

This is taken from a shot of the beautiful french dancer Jean-Baptiste Plumeau. It inspired me right away & as usual I added my little twist: he's like flying, not on the ground. A very lovely way to study legs, so hard to get. I also played with all his beauty spots: you know it's him!
I really like this illustration & this rendering. Still all digital, graph...

I really wanted this wide panel to illustrate how free of his cell he is but still surrounded by cells. In my head the scenery was even wider & empty.

I strip down my fav panel from the second page here, way back to the storyboard panel!
As you may notice, I already reworked the colors/fx, and what's important to see as it's HD here, is the way I went for the butt: slighty readable amongst the heavy shadowing cause of the light. Shadows you see clearly right after, ink only.
Again both sketches: the original FULL NAKED, for sure, and the on the top suit I drawn afterwards. Bonus with the detailed panel ...

I wanted the first panel as a reference to the famous fight at the end of the previous comic where you get two similar panels. I didn't seek the same color effects though, as I'm still trying out things & learning where I wanna go with colors & effects, and HOW.
It's really the kind of page showing how much work is put in these colors, damn!
