For this humpday, the challenge for me was creating something within an hour! And I made it, YAY! I kept some time for colors, shadows & lights, plus I experimented a lot with the fusion of the sketch, the blending.

First the classic original version you saw in the page. A variation with colors: no hatching / cross-hatching, closer to my newest rendering. See the ink, the glorious hair, and without! The sketch, opposite to the very first draft, coming from the storyboard: you get where it all evolved from!

Once again, this was supposed to be a quick thang, and I just... well, failed! I can't help myself to go further & further, taking more & more time to polish ( and trust me I didn't go that far here).
I must teach myself to go rough & quick, I see others do it so it is possible!
As you see I didn't blend the black solids as shadows, it matches well a darker skin.

First video featuring my newest process: blending the sketch, and this was the very first test. It shows as the original material, the sketch, is so dirrrrty! But I performed it anyway and somehow it worked, ha!

You won't believe me but lately I finally got to print the pages of the 4th chapter of LUST! Yup, 2 years later! On time for this THROW BACK THURSDAY!
Short story: I did have a french publisher seduced by the LUST comic series, they published digital versions of the 3 chapters. There were some kind of promise they would publish the chapters on PAPER. That never happened.
Worse: they totally IGNORED the fact I finish...

I didn't perform any cross hatching or even hatching, as I said previously in page 9 NOIRE version. I let all the details of the muscles, veins, plus the texture of Nimo's body hair do their work, hehe!
Clearly, if I were to publish a black & white version of the comic, I should get back to some hatching to get shadows. I get better at colors, so I heard, so it's for the best!

Another test with the blending technic of the graphite sketch with quick digital colors. Honestly I miss the line art, but I do enjoy to go somewhere else, without pressure (like creating comics!). It's good to remind you you are on your own path, the right path. ;-)

You saw this panel as stills showing some of the steps in an Anatomy of a panel, & here is the process video. I didn't get the final part with the background with the full heavy HD video from Procreate, so I had to deal with the 30 seconds export.
For the record, that was such hard pose to get, whereas looking back at it, it looks quite simple, ha!

Here you see I framed a bit differently in the final mix, like for panel 1. I just realize I rather the 2 separated balloons for panel 5, as it comes in panel 4: it fills the empty space pretty well. That's way better than what I did.
Lesson to learn: always look back at the storyboard when finalizing a page! XD

This is a panel that wasn't easy to create! I had the right pose since the storyboard, but Riss' face with eye contact had to be redone a lot, while Nimo was pretty quick to get.
I lost the sketch along the way, when performing the numerous color layers, I had to get rid of some, I thought I copied the sketch layer somewhere else and I didn't, ouch.

Big Muscle Bear, and very NSFW for this Throw Back Thursday!
3 years ago it was a simple inked traditional illustration with lots of hair, hehe! I decided to add some digital colors today & here's the result.
Unlike the previous colors effort, I let the areas pretty sharp, not blended and I also dig this kinda rendering. There're so many ways to proceed, I like to explore some of them which could stick to my style.

Although I felt bitter at the time, I enjoyed drawing this one, line art performed with digital graphite tool & quick colors. The finished piece is lovely & funny. I shall draw more this way (note to myself!).

I discovered I have to produce the full HD video from Procreate in order to get the nice self drawing effect, not the pop up stuff I have with the usual low 30 seconds vid. It generated very heavy files & takes some time, but it's better. I still didn't get the latest...

So this is the ink on this page & it looks pretty... NAKED without the colors, as I didn't perform the cross-hatching. It's kinda missing here, but I'm on the search of the right balance. I look up to Patrick Fillion's art a lot and he's giving some hatching here & there & that might be the cool hint for me.

Looking for a cool illustration from the vault, I saw this & told mysef I gotta separate the 3, easy as I must have drawn them on separated layers... well, NO it's all traditional, 3 years ago, HA!
But I reworked it to have the 3 poses on their own & big for your viewing pleasure ;-)
I really like the detailed I went for with this classic inking, as I didn't like ink before, but love to perform it nowadays in digital.
