I've decided to set up a Discord for Patrons - presumably all of you should be getting an invite of some description or another as I write this...thought it'd be nice as a general chat thing for people. Heading back to the world of unlikely licensed games, here's a little
review of the Grange Hill Computer Game, released for the Spectrum (and
others) In 1986, right at the show's peak. With characters like the
almighty Roland, strung out Zammo and psychotic Gripper at the game

Hi folks, just wanted to briefly update on a few things that have come up over the past while.
On the way that videos end: YouTube has changed shit massively here, as usual...now everyone ought to be using "end screens" for all the usual stuff that's got to be at a video's end. It kind of makes sense to do it, seeing as the annotations and so forth that I normally use don't work on mobile devices. But this end screen can apparently be only 20 seconds long, which is annoyi...

A documentary covering the story of possibly the UK computer scene's most dominant publisher in the 1980's, and plenty of their games - from the classics like Beach-Head and Flashback to...um, World Cup Carnival. Computers don't get more influential than this one. IBM, a struggling giant by the late 70's, change their entire philosophy and create the IBM PC 5150. The microcomputer masters like Apple and RadioShack don't take their efforts wholly seriously, but the 5150 ends up changing the world forever. This is how IBM won the computer wars of the 1980's...sort of. Enjoy!

In the 2nd part of our look at Jack Tramiel, two more brilliant engineers help to create the Commodore 64, the company's most successful computer. Commodore and Texas Instruments engage in a brutal and bloody price war. Jack Tramiel really deserves a documentary video all of his own - for all his many faults, the way he treated people, his tightness, his hunger for power...he did a lot. There's no-one quite like him. In Part 1, we look at his origins, the scandal that nearly took him out early, and the work that Chuck Peddle did for Commodore - the PET and the VIC-20. Enjoy!
