Perhaps the most tense encounter in the series yet. The confrontation with King Sweyn had me on the edge of my seat the entire time, waiting for whoever would make a move. Overall though, this episode made me feel such a large range of emotions, thinking the absolutely hilarious monk scene yet also the sad ending where Askeladd realizes how he's lost his entire crew. What an amazing show!

It's a lot clearer to me now what direction we're heading into for the final arc of this season. I loved the little revelations, like why Thorkell had asked Thorfinn about the meaning of being a true warrior. His last conversation with Thors had been forever left in his memory.

Another one of those episodes you just don't see coming. In the midst of new sides being formed, I loved how Canute got to shine here getting posed with some fascinating questions and perspectives. Really got me wondering though why Thorkell posed Thorfinn with the question of what makes a true warrior. Surely, he wouldn't have expected him to give the same answer Thors would have given? (Having watched some episodes ahead, I know now! :D)

Vinland Saga 1x17 Reaction "Servant"
Will post these on Mondays instead of Tuesdays temporarily, as Tuesdays are Chainsaw Man already too :) What an episode! It really seems like the story is at a crossroads, but I was surprised to see how the outcome is still undecided as of now. Thorkell coming in clutch might have spared Askeladd for now, though I'm not sure if the fate waiting for him then will be any better.
