Jon and Avahni sat opposite each other, watching as a strange-looking peacock creature that Jon managed to hunt sizzled over their open fire. Even without any herbs or unique flavourings, the scent of cooked meat wafted throughout the riverbank, unconsciously causing Jon’s stomach to rumble, and Avahni to giggle in response.
After the… intense summoning ritual from earlier, Jon thought it a good idea to find some sort of food for the pair of them. Through his Fragment Of Regeneratio...

Avahni thought that she was getting along with the human known as Jon. While there was still a distinct sense of awkwardness between the pair, she did not feel as though there was any hidden aggression within in his demeanour or mannerisms.
When she saw that Jon had managed to find a set of clothing, she was surprised, and somewhat envious that Jon managed to bring in some of his belongings into the System Introduction. When she realized that human civilization had progressed far enough...

“Avahni!”, Jon shouted at the top of his lungs. While he was unsure if the lutin stayed away for the entirety of his Mana Core integration, Jon had not seen any traces of her after waking up.
While Jon felt confident enough to wander throughout the small realm alone with his new abilities, having an additional person with him would further increase the chances of him surviving. Even if Avahni did not possess any offensive abilities, there was always the possibility of using her as a...

“A Title Fragment? What is that?”, Jon muttered to himself.
One of the mandatory System tasks that Jon received was to obtain a “complete” Title. Initially Jon thought that it was just the strange wording of the System, not thinking much of the eleventh task when compared to the more straightforward of the thirteen mandatory tasks.
However, after obtaining this Title Fragment, Jon’s understanding of the eleventh task changed, realizing that there were additional steps re...

Jon and Avahi stared at each other for a few seconds, before the latter merely tilted their head, not understanding why Jon would refuse. The creature before her, the one named Jon, had protected her unconscious form while she accepted her Mana Core integration notice, even moving her to a more comfortable location instead of being sprawled out on the damp sands.
Avahni had to admit, that despite Jon’s Race appearing somewhat primitive, it had at least developed a working language of ...

The Fragment Of Shadow possessed characteristics similar to obsidian, despite being shaped like a black diamond. Cold to the touch and eerily smooth around the edges. Unlike all of the previous fragments Jon had obtained, the Fragment Of Shadow didn’t possess a grand lustre or some minute barely noticeable quality to it.
For all in intents and purposes, it was just a rock, albeit a deceptively pretty one.
Jon had held a piece of obsidian before during one of his science classes ...

Jon could only watch as Avahni abruptly collapsed to one side. The strange, elf-like alien didn’t even bother waiting for Jon to verbally respond to her request, taking his mimicry of her actions as a sign of confirmation.
The young human merely blinked, before squatting down, rubbing his temples for a couple seconds and letting out an overexaggerated sigh. The form of a beautiful young woman laid sprawled out on the sands beneath him, their figure defenceless, vulnerable to the weath...

The elf alien blinked, pointing a finger at Jon, understanding the meaning behind his actions.
“Jon?”, their voice was alluring, perhaps even more so considering it was not intentional. Jon could quite distinctly hear the unfamiliar twangs of an accent, although it wasn’t one that Jon could place.
The elf repeated the word, trying to familiarize themselves with it. Jon could hear them mutter a series of alien words. Jon could not even begin to imagine what the elf was saying...

Jon suppressed a wince, as the effects of adrenaline and natural endorphins slowly wore off.
After fighting two battles today, Jon felt his preternatural muscles ache, strained under the effects of multiple usages of [Cometh Thy Red Horse Awaits]. Despite spiritual energy flowing through his form, Jon felt the enhancement effect of his Spell pushed his physical capabilities to their absolute limits.
He could not be certain that there existed a fragment capable of ...

Jon and the fire-breathing ducked locked eyes, his bright green coloured irises staring deeply into the small beady-black eyes of that abominable creature.
An expression of recognition flashed through the eyes of the duck, causing it to release an overwhelmingly loud quack, stomping its webbed feet into the sand, ash falling of its brown-coloured feathers. Jon could feel the strangest of feelings emanate out from the mutated duck, a warmth, and the scent of embers growing stronger even ...

Even if Jon disregarded his first three abilities and relied solely on the effects of his fourth ability, [Cometh Thy Red Horse Awaits], he thought he would be able to take on the fire-breathing duck. Jon’s speed and agility exploded under the effects of this ability, propelling him through the forest at a pace he never thought possible before.
The wind licked his cheeks and whipped his hair back as he slid over a large fallen tree. His figure a little more than a fli...

Jon awoke to the sound of lapping water. The right side of his face felt cold and wet and the uncomfortable sensation of sand in his mouth caused him to groan, as he pushed himself upright.
Jon’s head still spun, somewhat reminiscent of a hangover. The scent of gastric acids caused his face to scrunch up in distaste, before scooping up those chunks of sand and throwing them downstream. The water would carry his vomit further down the river, hopefully alongside the memory of him nearly...

Holding the two fragments in his hands, Jon grinned as two familiar prompts appeared in front of him.
Fragment Of “Moss” discovered.
Would you like to integrate this into your Mana Core?

Jon selected “no” for the time being, remembering the mossy growth on the back and hind legs of the pig-creature. Even if his hypothesis that animals within the small realm were born with a Mana Core related to their specie...

Jon considered retracing his footsteps in an attempt to find the duck creature again. Considering that he had obtained a Fragment Of Mouth from that goat-shaped abomination, there was always the chance that defeating the fire-breathing duck would result in Jon being able to obtain another Mana Core.
Although he had already decided to put more distance between himself and the duck, pushing further forward in the direction that his [Monstrous Intuition] u...

Jon had to admit, walking through such a strange and vibrant landscape, one untouched by humankind was quite the experience. Although Jon had been hiking and camping before, the effects of his newest ability allowed Jon to perceive the world around him with new and vibrant colours to it.
On the other hand, his heightened instincts and intuition made caused Jon to feel somewhat paranoid, especially whenever he heard the crackling of a tree branch or the snapping of a twig off in the dist...

Jon hesitated for a moment, before deciding against integrating this “Fragment Of Mouth” into his Mana Core. Connotations aside, it was not within Jon’s nature to hastily accept things without giving a situation a significant amount of thought beforehand.
Jon felt more questions bubble up from the depths of his mind, rising to the forefront of his attention.
“A “Fragment Of Mouth?”, Jon muttered to himself.
‘A fragment of what exactly?’.

Jon immediately felt his heart pump faster than ever before.
It made sense, if he thought about it.
In this moment, he was not Jon. He was not a human. He was prey, a piece of meat standing before something that devoured it.
A predator.
When living creatures were faced with situations of intense stress and pressure, there were only two responses.
The most obvious one was to run away. If he managed to escape this situation, he would continue to survive.

There was no response from the System Introduction. Not another paragraph of unscrambled characters, nor a sudden change in his location. More than thirty seconds passed, and Jon just continued to stare towards a random direction of pure white space.
Jon unconsciously straightened his back, feeling as though he had made a mistake with his choice of Mana Core.
’Shit. Did I make some sort of mistake? I mean, I kind of just went with the flow here. Have I agreed to some sort of...

If Jonathan was being completely honest, his life kind of sucked at the moment.

It made sense he thought, in a twisted sort of way.
He had been raised in household which va...
