January Patron Wallpaper

Last month's WEMas desktop ended up a bit "busy". Wanted to do another that was simpler and wouldn't drown out your icons so much.

Well then.

So Patreon has realized how thoroughly they fucked up, and decided NOT to implement their proposed fee changes going forward.

While that doesn't do much to help with the dozens of Patrons I've already lost as a result of this boneheaded move, I am pleased that my supporters going forward will not be bled dry by incremental fees.

Thank you all for sticking with me through the uncertainty. Onward and upward!

Well That Was A Stressful 24 Hours

An ebb and flow of Patrons is all part of the business. Some months we're down a few, others we're up a few. Some people pledge for the long haul, but its unreasonable to expect everyone to do that.

That said, I had more Patrons cancel in the past day than I have in the past three months combined. Losing more than 30 patrons, especially after making a push the last couple of months to get us to our next milestone, stung a little bit. But worse was not knowing how bad it will get still. Ho...

Just some further discussion on the change, and thoughts about where to go from here.

One possibility I did not mention in the video is basically treading water for now, and seeing how Kickstarter's new Drip service pans out. It's currently invite-only, but is supposed to be a direct competitor to Patreon. If they opt NOT to screw over the supporters, perhaps we'll move over there.

A Change to Patreon's Fees

You guys will likely receive an email about this from Patreon tomorrow, but  they informed us creators today and I wanted to just start a dialogue about it.

Creators on Patreon don't receive the full amount you pledge to us each month. It seems obvious, but you probably don't think too much about it; Patreon gets a cut, and then there are transaction fees (credit card processing, etc) that all comes out of our end.

Typically what we end up with is about 80-88% of your total pl...

December Patron Q&A

Questions! Ask me stuff! I didn't do a video last month because I only got two questions! I'll answer those on this month's video, but I'd like at least a couple more!
