Male Graphite Portrait

A male portrait, performed with graphite on standard paper.

Perhaps blame my bias eyes, but my portrait proportions never seem accurate nor accurately captures the subject's likeness; I believe, after hours of staring at one piece, my mind fixates solely on the differences between my work and the reference to spot any disparities...

Female Portrait

A female portrait, painted with oil on gessoed paper to be featured in a local art show sometime next spring.

Despite my best efforts, I still think my art lacks classical finesse or mystique...I hope to attend some workshops or classes soon to better understand contemporary methods, but, 'til then, onto the next!

Again, I appreciate your time and patience,

Someday, this song'll serve as Project Lullaby's musical theme; hopefully it captures the wild, intrepid nature of the protagonist's tale.

Sampatan Sun Dancer

A digital character illustration of a decorated Eastern Ursine amid the daily Sampatan celebrations, created in Procreate.

Though illustration thoroughly tests my conviction and patience, I'm grateful for every opportunity to gradually expand on Project Dream's diverse world and cultures....I'm constantly astounded by my artistic progress, but remain eager to improve!

I was recently approved to join Oil Painters of America, so the next few pieces may be academic studies, or ...

A Male Portrait

A male portrait study, created in Procreate.

I've started to actively compare my work to artists I admire to identify the few aspects absent in my process; though I doubt I'll ever be entirely satisfied with my work, my original aspirations feel well within reach.

Doggon Cinematic Illustration

An illustration of Doggon, the main protagonist of Project Null, created in procreate.

Though I was initially frustrated, with patience and persistence, I managed to salvage Doggon's illustration...it's a satisfactory effort, though I'm somewhat disappointed: I know I can be better...I'll temporarily return to my studies to identify how to improve before the next piece.

You patience and support are deeply appreciated,

A Dance Upon the Pinnacle's Brink

Another piece inspired by a song committed to memory years ago, meant to capture an ambitious individual on the "brink" of failure or defeat; despite brief temptation to cede, they regain conviction and prepare for the next bout...the song can be endless looped to symbolize perpetual cycles, only to cease when one chooses...

Your patience and support are deeply appeciated,

Wraith, Taken Portrait

A portrait of a Taken, reduced to a volatile Wraith, created in Procreate.

I'm amazed how preliminary sketches and color studies expedited the process and ultimately led to an equal, if not finer, result; I think they'll be permanently incorporated into my approach...

Tarrfi Conceptual Sketches

Two additional Tarrfi portraits, drawn with graphite on standard paper.

A simpler alternative to the prior design, though I'm fond of the deisgn direction: already, I can envision several potential illustrations...

From top to bottom, captions read:

"Use organic, conscientious, expressive lines to disrupt unnaturally precise marks."

"Magano's Enhancement (attached to temple)"

Revised Soic Portrait

I'm glad I gave myself more time, it allowed me to push beyond my currently capabilities to actively attempt achieve a higher quality image...from now on, I'll try to cultivate greater patience for my art to strive not for a "finish", but an inspirational image in league with artists I admire.

I made an additional discovery, apparently, Ipads, for whatever reason, have two  automatic brightness toggles: one in the standard display menu, the second,  buried in the accessibility...
