Female Figure Study

Another figure study for anatomical and tonal practice, completed in three days... t'is ironic how graphite was used to create the best figurative works of my career, yet, less than a month ago, I wished never to use it again...I'm thankful I was, despite my frustrations, persistent.

'Steps Tween Sea and Sky [Corrected]

I had to re-upload this song with better string samples, the previous version lent it no justice.

Grand Counter

Originally, like most of my songs,  "Grand Counter" was a meager hum I, thankfully, recorded; it was first to used practice classical counter point, though it gradually evolved into a more complex, or "grand", composition.

My deepest thanks,

Jaivin

Initially, this image was but a study, though as the quality became more apparent, I was convinced to repurpose it into an eventual album cover .

A male figure study performed in graphite to practice my latest approach; I'm proud of the results, though the proportions seem, somewhat, inconsistent.

Kodiak Ursine Portrait, Work in Progress

Thanks to an new approach inspired by one of my favorite digital artist, Dave Rapoza, I managed to depict an Ursine with a realistic semblance; note, this image's still in progress, yet, even in unfinished condition, it seemed post-worthy.

Project Dream Preview, Prelude

“…What…w—what’ve I done…?”

“May the Pylan grant you Variance…”

“Wh—…what’ve I done?!” brisk steel lifted from his temple, yet teary eyes fixed t’ward the feat: silenced cries were replaced by another’s grief, “why…? Why was I forced to do it…?”

“Someday, my son…you’ll understand…”

Project Dream Preview, Chapter 1

The air was algid, the ground, wet; light snow coaxed all silent, though, despite a streaking, cardinal vision, to Alo, but two existed: he, his prey.

With bow drawn and arrow eager, he aimed to the clearing beneath, to an oblivious, lonesome deer.

“…Remember…breathe…” he stilled, “steady…” his right arm faintly trembled, shielded merely by matted, maculate, umber fur, sodden rags, and a worn mantle, “focus……clear–”

His grip gave:...

‘Tween wooden blinds, sun rays beset, “another,” Alo stroked his eyes, “dismal day…—ah!” the drained, clay canister was tipped, “my head…urgh…”

Though the great room slightly crawled underfoot, t’ward the windows, Alo managed to stagger: playful cubs were buried ‘neath fresh snow by two equally amused shovelers.

“Focus,” he bowed to flick through a pedestalled book, “…calamity, noun: an immense misfortunate, disaster.”

Project Dream Preview, Chapter 3

“Who–?” abruptly, Alo was woken from his substance induced coma, “wh–who’s there…?” a shrill pierced atop the rafters eerie creaks, “h-hello…?,” he felt about, “the quiver…wh-where is it—?” the whistles ceased, yet the racket endured…

Leerily, his light steps were essentially unobstructed aside his stomach’s occasional knot. He leaned across the kitchen threshold: where once jumbled pots and pans were strewn, towered organized, polished stacks; s...

“Alo…rise.”

Faint nudges stirred him; his eyes steadily widened to the cavorted flames against the deep night.

“…Hinto…?” awince, Alo meekly snarled; his stomach immensely ached, “I…warned you…”

“I met the Chief, too, the butcher, Bono? He asked I deliver your note and ration: ‘you earned it’, he says. Also,” a bowl was wafted at Alo’s nose, “he offered this and desperately wants your opinion.”

“Is that…stew…? Bono...

“Ugh…” ablink, Alo’s eyes wandered from the smolders to the cornered fur-pile, “Hinto…?” he grazed the emptied dish, “Hinto!” too, his lent, woven cover, “Hinto?! Where are you?!”

He stormed to the upper floors, “in which,” and breached every dust-laden room, “did he settle?…Ugh…of course,” the foreigner’s luggage was discovered bedside, “in mine…he shouldn’t be here…”

“How foolish…” it hissed within, “for he was beaconed...

Project Dream Preview, Chapter 6

“T’is a pleasant day, but Northern Winters,” Hinto shuddered, “are c-colder than I’m accustomed,” he marveled at the dreary skies beyond the frostbitten canopy, “did you scar the trees…?” Alo was sev’ral paces ahead, “are they markers…? Where do they lead…? Alo–?”

“Tracks” he knelt, “one set, near the last…”

“Ah, it seems these woods aren’t barren after all. You’re clearly experienced,” they pressed on, “may I ask who...

“……Alo–?”

“Of your vow must I ceaselessly remind?”

Technically…for the day, I swore I’d leave you be, which,” Hinto blew between his palms, “has p—passed.”

Technically, you lost my arrows,” to the tracks, his strained eyes fixed, “‘til they’re retrieved, you’ve no right to speak.”

“They will be, however, t’is frigid…and late, in boredom must we also trek…?…Ah, at leas...

Project Dream Preview, Chapter 8

Afore the newborn light, Hinto woke, “revere the day,” powder was kicked over the smolders, “one you should’ve seen…” his ascensive gaze drifted t’ward the latent Alo; he crouched, reaching for his sorrel, jagged mane.

“H-…Hinto?”

“—Ah,” his hands hid, “r-revere the day, I…I was about to wake you…”

“Wake me…?” asquint, he languidly surveyed the nival scenery, “t’is too early…let me dream…”

“I would, but we’ve ...

Female Portrait Study

A well executed piece drawn in record time for graphite; eventually, this image'll be converted into "Farewell to Former"'s cover,  a fifteen to twenty song album commemorating my transition into a proficient storyteller; though the music, initially, won't have high sound quality, I'll share each composition here as they're completed, then, once I acquire the proper programs and equipment, they'll be remastered 'fore their public release.

Portrait of Faridoon

My first successful portrait of Faridoon, one of the protagonists from project TEOS; in all honesty, I've little to say: the procedure went well, though took longer than desired...t'is  but another step t'ward mastery, I suppose, but it still falls woefully short of artists I admire...I wonder what methods or principles I've overlooked, or does competition and criticism, alone, drastically elevate one's potential?

Lona, The Water Princess

The final days of Project TEOS were plagued with dread, frustration, and turmoil, however, I'm glad it'd completed; now, months removed from its development, through art, I can rediscover my love for this world, and freely explore how to refine it into an ideal state.

Alo Conceptual Painting

When I initially restarted digital art, I thought t'would be used to emulate traditional media, however, over five days wrought with frustration and anguish, this piece forced me to recognize digital as its own, unique medium, akin to painting or charcoal; though the same fundamental principles still apply, their differences must be acknowledged and respected for optimal results.

Dark Ursine Study

I tried another rendering approach, but, after about a month or two of study, I no longer believe graphite's an ideal medium to practice my draftsmanship: compared to charcoal, its application's slower, it's not easily erased, nor photographed due to the inherent sheen; I'm still satisfied with the results, though it should've been finished sooner.
