More than just a Zako

I got quite attached to the character of Eleanor, who- I'll be really honest right now- isn't going to last much longer than the opening credits. Part of the pre-battle set-up involves her getting ready after her amorous adventures with our mystery client, and I wanted to give her little cell a bit of personality to reflect her backstory. Rendering 'photos' to go on the wall of a room is a really easy way to do this, so we've got teenage Eleanor on holiday with her Grandad, the obligatory Afg...

Time to give the Marines a little love...

The Scuba series is starting to take shape now- at least the pre-battle scene-setting. As you can see, I've a database of files now all organising the set-up renders into different comic strips, four of which are now done. The black-clad divers have had a lot of love- now it's time to give their opponents a bit of personality.

One of the narrative devices I want to use at the beginning of the fight is a security console where the defenders can realise that they're under attack and raise...

Elves vs Goblins: 95-99

In the thick of the fighting, Angharad tramples the body of the first Goblin she has slain and strikes another to the ground with her strong shield.  As it struggles to rise, she runs the tip of her Elven-forged blade through the gaps in it’s rusty armour. A young Knight called Betsan is less skilled: A jagged Goblin blade slips low in the confused melee, past her guard, driving deep into her bowels. Her simple leather corset, flexible and light, offers little protection against such a...

T18: Toni

Toni came through the gateway firing- even though she wasn't entirely sure where the enemy were.

She'd wanted to be first. Even in the car on the way here, she'd wanted to be first. She knew the way the others looked at her, the way they whispered behind her back. She didn't talk like them, didn't dress like them, hadn't gone to an expensive private school or owned a fucking pony when she was a kid. Her dad hadn't driven a Mercedes or taken her to ballet lessons. She had tattoos, and a ...

36-39: Street fighting

In the thick of the fighting, Lola keeps shooting, keeps pressing forward obediently. She's lost count of how many Troopers have been shot beside her, how many near-misses have sizzled her skin. The fear has become something euphoric: She wonders if she may perhaps be invulnerable.

Surging through the streets, the Storm Troopers invade every building and force every defended position. In every choke-point, a red-clad body lies; another Trooper who heedlessly followed her orders and her ...

Cop Ambush

Here's the first render for August then: Created completely on a whim, when the idea of bondage cops popped unbidden into my head one day.

No, it probably won't get a story, but if time permits, I might do an aftermath scene.

Happy Holidays!

So I saw this beach party environment on DAZ on Monday, and immediately the idea of a swimwear shootout popped into my head. Fortunately, this Patreon allows me to just go out and buy stuff on a whim now, so I picked it up, along with a load of swimsuit outfits and heels for Genesis 9, and spent most of the week creating these renders!

Who are they? No idea! Who are they fighting? Haven't a clue! Why are they fighting? Who cares!

Happy holidays!

Honeytrap

So as far as that honeytrap subplot goes, I envisage it running something like this:

  • "Let me introduce my Team Leaders to you- I think you've already met Eleanor Parker..."

  • *How he met Eleanor Parker ...*

  • "So anyway, Eleanor- I was thinking maybe you could take all the new girls and make a frontal assault right there? We'll follow. Oh, by the way, this prospective client kind of likes you- he asked if you might like to meet him for coffee? ...

Employee Profiles

Once I've got the bit between my teeth, I do tend to get a bit carried away with world-building, and that's what's happened this week with the Scuba story.

I originally planned for the Black Team divers to be nameless redshirts who'd appear once each in the opening montage, and then die summarily in the subsequent battle. Then I got a bit attached to them, and started inventing personalities from their posture and facial expressions in the training renders. Then, when I was posing the c...

More training and briefing

The Scuba battle has taken a back seat over the last few months as other projects have distracted me, and I've been scrambling to get ahead of the curve with my Elves vs Goblins gate battle.

Finally though, I've managed to devote a few evenings to adding to the pre-battle montage.

First, I've completed all the renders for the underwater firing range- still need bubbles and post-work. There's some more fresh meat- er- I mean, a new employee- being taught how to handle the pneumati...

Interlude 3

It doesn't take long for the reinforcements to arrive: Two fast, sleek, expensive black cars pull up outside the facility and six fresh, confident young Agents disembark.

The place is quiet: There's no gunfire to greet them; no angry shouts or whizzing bullets. The only sound is their muted voices and the sharp click-clack of designer heels on poured concrete as they make their way inside.

As they pass through the courtyard, their unease deepens. Scattered around them, the detrit...

Quick poll about summer updates

In response to a comment elsewhere:

It's coming up to the Summer and I, as well as most of you hopefully, will be off somewhere sunny, drinking plenty of booze and occasionally taking a dip in the pool.

I've spent the past few weeks making sure that I've got enough content ready to schedule for the rest of this month and the next one, so that the weekly updates continue to happen in my absence. I hadn't considered that some people find the weekly format a bit of a chore, and it's ...

32-35: Into the breach

At last, the red-suited Storm Troops have reached the settlement itself and scaled the steps. A flood of scarlet bodies surges like an invading tide on a planet that has never seen water. More fearful of their own harsh discipline than the searing beams of energy that spear out at them, they press forwards in a pitiless, ruthless wall of flesh. They have no more sympathy for the enemy fallen than for their own.

In the front rank, terrified and powerless, Lola fights on as her luck conti...

Elves vs Goblins: 91-94

With a proud, fearless yell, the Sylvan warrior-women hurl themselves across the intervening distance, racing each-other to be first to the fight. Eowyn falls with an ugly grunt of pain as an arrow plunges down from a tower to take her high in her midriff: She kicks out hard enough to dislodge one boot as her fellow Knights hurry past her, her cries of anguish ignored.

As they plough into the Goblin spear-wall, arrows and rusty, jagged halberds inflict more losses on the noble warriors,...

Making the charge

I thought it'd be a good idea to talk through how today's 'Charge of the Maidens' scene was made- I've been intending since forever to get some tutorial material in here.

1) Inspiration comes in many forms, but often some of my best renders come from me spotting an outfit and deciding I like it. In this case, I'd seen this 'Maidens of Mars' style get-up some time ago and always intended doing something with it.

2) For a one-off render, I often find that a good starting point is to...

Elves vs Goblins: 86-90

Snarling and hissing, the animalistic Goblin warriors watch the advancing warrior-women with vicious glee. While individually cowardly, when in numbers their malice grows to eclipse their fear. They are eager to spill Elven blood, to slice Elven flesh and hear Elven screams.

Almost at the gates, the brave Glade Knights struggle to maintain their formation as Goblin arrows pelt down at them. Choking on the filthy arrow-head that’s pierced her, Aelwen stumbles aside and falls in the scr...

Combat posing

I'm trying really hard to create the sense that, at least at this stage of the battle, the Elves completely outmatch the Goblins in combat, so while pairings like this are dramatic and fun to pose, they probably won't make it into the final work, which is why I'm posting them here.

I keep having to go back and re-do things to really hammer home the fact that the Goblins can only kill Elves if they get lucky, outnumber them, or cheat.

Still fighting the gate battle...

Been a while since I put anything in the behind-the-scenes folder. Here's some in-progress shots of the gate battle: Once again, with large stories I find myself having to go back and put in extra detail.

In this case, I've realised that there are far too many Elves dying, when I want to give the impression that the Knights are vastly superior warriors fighting a weak and cowardly foe, only able to make a difference through weight of numbers. So I've spent the week going back and givin...
