Updates on stuff and things!

So as you may be able to tell, I have started a malePoison ivy cosplay. This has already been an interesting experience because I've never done a gender bend and it's difficult to make this costume look masculine and not like I am a guy wearing a woman's costume. The reason I picked this project up seemingly out of the blue is that I need to start making some seasonally themed costumes for the possible Michael Hamm calendar. But don't worry! I haven't given up on DOOM, it's just on the back burn...

Update on DOOM

So this here is the current state of my DOOM armour! The helmet was 3D printed by a good friend of mine and then painted using a mix or spray paints and war hammer paint (the quality is amazing). Everything else you see here is EVA foam. Being stupid, a lot of the foam was heated in the oven which is NOT RECOMMENDED WITH OUT PROPER VENTILATION AND MASKS. ON STAGE @ HAL-CON

This weekend was my local comic book convention and sadly I was only able to attend 1 of the 3 days. Which was especially hard because I was invited as a local hero and couldn't commit because of my regular human job. What was even more sad was the fact that I didn't get the chance to get into costume because I was part of a lip sync battle which didn't require a costume. That day was STILL amazing though. I saw so many wonderful costumes and there are so many talented people in my city 😍.

DOOM chest plate

Just giving a bit of an update on the DOOM costume! The chest is all done and made completely out of EVA foam. I may make some paint adjustments but for the time being I'm quite happy with it. If you remember the original costume there was a weird "Ab window" and because I find that hilarious I decided to keep it that way. But I do have a piece that clips on if I eat too much pizza ;)

DOOM helmet!

I've had a few messages about the DOOM helmet and how I was going about making it. Well the fact of the matter is that I'm not. A friend of mine (Nathan DeLuca - check him out he's awesome) 3D printed one for me and then it was just a matter of painting it! Here's sneak peak! Sorry I look tired and like a crazy person. I am!

My next cosplay build!

This costume is a bit of a patreon exclusive as I have not posted about this at all yet. This is one of my bigger builds and sadly it is continually getting put on the back burner. I'm hoping that with all this support from you incredible peepers I'll be able to finish it and show it off soon. "BUT WHAT IS THE COSTUME??" You ask. Well it's none other than my own take on the original DOOM GUY from everyone's favourite 1993 first person shooter "DOOM". Can't wait to show some of it off!!
