Chapter 11 - Aberrant

Echo woke again an unknown amount of time later. He was no longer prone on a horizontal table, instead he was raised slightly, and he finally got a good look at the room around him. It was a square chamber that was lit by a single torch on the far wall, near a tunnel.

He was alone.

He resolved to attempt an escape, casting his transmutation spell once more, but again, he couldn't feel it take hold. He grunted in frustration and began pulling at his restraints.

Chapter 10 - Struggle

Rickard ran by him towards the cavern exit, a panicked look on his face.

Chapter 9 - Lair

After about a hundred-meter sloped descent, the tunnel opened into a large cavern and all of the adventurers were dumbstruck by the sight before them.

The Holy Wall extended deep into the earth, and the cavern turned sharply to the left.

What is it made of?

Echo stepped over and closed his eyes with a hand on the hilt of his sword.

"Reveal the nature of your composition, Identify Material."

Chapter 8 - Level Up

Echo continued to cough blood and reached into his pocket dimension, gripping one of the healing potions, and quaffing it.

Blegh! What the hell?

The flavor was a mix of the worst cherry cough syrup and the bottom of a tequila bottle. But the foul-flavored mixture did its job, healing his wounds and invigorating him. The aftertaste was somehow worse, like licking the top of the bar after a hard night of drinking.

Chapter 7 - Reality

They checked in with the local garrison commander, a squat man who was balding but made of muscle whose jaw looked like it could cut a diamond. Quite gruff to look at, and his demeanor didn't leave one particularly incentivized to talk with him for a long time.

"Mmmm…what do we have here?" His voice was rough but filled with wisdom.

Extra Chapter 1 - Rickard

“Rickard!” The woman’s voice cried out from the main house. “Make sure you milk the cows!”

“Okay, mom!” Rickard set to the task with gusto, sitting down on a chunk of wood and setting to his chores for the day.

Rickard’s life was simple. It was just him, his mother, and his sister. They worked in the Imperial Farmlands. His sister, Feana, was very sickly and tried to help around the farm but stayed indoors most of the time. His mother did some type of work that too...

Chapter 6 - Company

The way she said it, the tone of her voice, made it sound like they weren’t all that uncommon, despite what Isaac said.

He nodded. “Where are you from? Are Pixies native to Heimfold?”

She began to brighten up a little, "Nope. Malvir makes us. He’s a New God – the Maker of Monsters.”

"I see.” Echo glanced over at the stove and walked over, setting Narya down on her cushion. "If we’re roommates, I think you deserve a little privacy.”

Chapter 5 - Tests and Pixies

He was still sitting with Isaac but was no longer in his office/home. Instead, he was on a platform, an enormous square, floating in some other place. The sky was a deep purple, and the air tasted metallic.

Isaac stood and stretched before extending a hand to pull Echo up. He gestured to Echo’s head, and he put his helmet back on.

“This is a far-off world that you’ve never heard of. I use this as a testing ground of sorts. Go ahead,” He gestured to the edge of the platform...

Chapter 4 - Guildmaster

It didn’t make sense. This was a fantasy world, not Earth.

Echo started to rack his brain, trying to think about any similarities he saw during his time with the Arbiter of Souls at that temple and Earth.

It sort of looked like a Roman or Greek temple.

That, combined with hearing the familiar language led him to believe that there must be some connection between all worlds.
