Scrapped Intro Storyboards

Oh these are ridiculous and embarrassing to show, but I will so you can learn a little something about the girls. You're looking at some really rough ideas jotted down (storyboards) for alternate scenes when you meet these girls. Everyone else's stayed the same but these ones were like my rough draft /scrapped ideas. From left to right:

Bonnibel - similar to the one that's in the game now, you wreck her cake. In this concept it was a stray arrow or weapon you were flinging around...

Mio - pencil test

This is what Chris sendsback (although there is usually a rough test pass or two before this stage) which looks awesome. Afterwards I go in and give critiques on her face/proportions/etc to keep her looking on model. Mio's looking sweeeet!

More animations on the way!! Here's the storyboard I made for Mio; this is what I hand over to Chris (our animator friend) with loose instructions and some notes about her mannerisms. Then he works his magic and turns it into a lovely pencil test :D

Girl Idea: Combo?

So I drew this really quick (rough) sketch in Flash for my friend today, and had the thought: what if an upcoming character in Crush Crush was a combo/twins? That's a big trope in a lot of anime I've seen... but how would it work in their dialogue? Maybe their speak in tandem. Not sure, but I figure I'd toss it up here to see what you guys thought. Scrapped Date Concepts

Scrapped stuff! My fav. These were extra date locations, but as you can assume, that multiplies every girl's art by a lot and in the end I found more value in spending that time on new girl content. These are horribly rough but I think they give you an idea of how each was going to look.

Top Left: A date at the fair, or kitty carnival. Another option for this one was a shot of the girls riding a roller coaster ^-^

Q-Piddy Human Form Concepts

Mio - 7" Figure Concept

Total pie in the sky dream here, but I would be soooo happy to have figures of Mio, Quill, Cassie, and Elle...aww heck, all of the girls! Hehe.

Here is the rough beginnings of how a 'Mio' figure could look. Obvi, if patreon funding keeps going strong then this might not be such a long shot dream after all. The above sketch is super duper rough, and I need to plump her up a bit since her legs are looking too scrawny.

Since it was requested here on Patreon, I decided to go ahead and convert this image to a more ecchi one. Cake batter explosion!! I've also made a wallpaper version for anyone who would like that.

Here you get to see the original outfit design for Bonbon in this one - before I decided to add a blue dress behind her apron for the Kong release ;) And it's a good thing too! Baking with nothing but an apron on is so unsanitary! Hehe

Cassie - Quick Sketch

She's one of my favs~ I was sitting in the passenger seat on a long drive and decided to doodle her in a slightly different style. I'll blame all the lumpy lines on the not-so-smooth highway :P

I really need to get back to drawing on actual paper! It feels so good, and there's no Ctrl Z so every line's gotta matter. Do you like or hate this variation on Cassie's style? Or does it look the same ^_^

Bonnibel - Sightseeing Date

As much as Bonnibel enjoys baking goodies she enjoys trying new tasty things that other people have made even more! The sightseeing date takes place near a Japanese temple, where you typically find all sorts of delicious red bean buns, taiyaki, takoyaki, and baked yams ~ nom nom.

Here's the second popup from Bonbon's intro. I extended it so you could see her pose better, but now you can see how rough and unfinished the background is! Most of the backgrounds in Crush Crush don't have much detail/attention given to them, simply because I wanted to focus more of my time on the character art. I actually recorded a speed-draw of this one so I'll try to post that one up in the next week.

Bonnibel - Introduction Scene 1

Bonbon in her bakery! I plan to completely scrap this background and redesign how it will actually look/feel like a real bakery when she appears in our visual novel. I'm just in the super early stages of concepting all that now, but it's gonna be good! Nothing I can share on here juuuust yet ;)
