Hi there,

I've started today to close this month's developing cycle and I expect to wrap up everything for a beta testing period starting this Friday.

Apart of the three new brief scenes introduced, I've focused on refining the engine these past weeks. A lot of internal changes have been made so resources could be managed more efficiently, which is almost mandatory for the game to grow.

- Getting both status and map screens opened at the same time.

LOK Rebirth 0.5.2 release

Hi people,

I think I'm done for now with those performance optimization tasks, so I give you v0.5.2.

As always, all public downloads are in here.

There's no new content, but I'll be grateful if you test it all the same.

You still need a DirectX 11 capable machine, but the frame rates have been tripled (on my computer at least).

Status update: Performance Optimization

Hi people, just some heads up on progress.

CPU and memory utilization are becoming a serious problem with development. I guess you're not noticing it because the compiled game runs smoothly and all, but I need to wait like 20 seconds just to run the game inside the editor and then it's still kind of choppy.

So, if the game is supposed to grow even more, I need to make drastic changes on how the engine manages assets and hardware resources.

0.5b savegame

Hi,

Asion (a patron) has uploaded a savegame with content up to 0.5. You can use this to play 0.5.1 without the need to start over, in case you don't have such a savegame yourself.

It goes to Slot 2 (upmost right slot). You need to decompress this file to:

"%username%\AppData\LocalLow\LOK Team\LOK Rebirth"

If you copy+paste that line to Windows Explorer it'll take you to the right place.

I've just woke up from a 10 hour sleep after some serious jet lag. Chasing the sun for 15 hours on an airplane does funny things to you, I tell you.

Status update: I need a MUCH better laptop... :-P

Hey guys,

I give up!

I've been trying to be patient and wait for the almost two minutes Unity takes to even start the game in debug mode every time I need to test something, but I can't keep looking at a screen while the laptop is blocked for any other task due to 99% CPU use. This is clearly not a machine capable of managing this workload.

Therefore, for the remainder of the month, I'll be focusing on planning and story-boarding new events ...
