Eleniah laughed for a while. Like, a while. Her laughter was loud and gleeful, like a child discovering fireworks or something equally awesome for the first time. A few times when she ran out of breath, Kay heard her gasp out a few words. Words like, “…can’t believe…”, “…so much fun!”, and “…finally found…!”.
Eventually she stopped and laid against the table, catching her breath.
“Are you done?” He asked.
She looked up at him with bright ...

“What do you mean you haven’t worked on his class at all?” Douglas demanded. “It’s been three months!”
“Don’t you yell at me!” Eleniah snapped back at him.
“It’s been three months and he hasn’t upgraded to tier two! It takes less than one for the average person to do that! What have you been doing?!” The gnome slammed the table, making very little noise even in his rage.
“I’ve been training him to be better than the idiots that rush to each tier...

Kay trooped into the Adventurer’s Guild, covered in blood and with seven heads in a sack, one of them a wolf’s. A few of the other adventurers glanced over and took in the sight of him, but they quickly lost interest. People covered in blood with oddly bulging bags wasn’t an uncommon sight here.
He’d originally planned to back to Eleniah’s house and clean himself off before turning in the job, but with the looks people had given him in the street, he decided to just clean up a...

“Don’t. Die” Eleniah insisted, emphasizing each word with a poke at his chest.
“I’ll do my absolute best.” Kay promised. It was time for his first job without Eleniah watching over him. The months in between his first job and now had cemented his new identity as an adventurer, at least to himself. What had started off being just what he had to do had quickly become, if not a calling, then certainly a job he enjoyed.
He’d completed a lot of jobs with Eleniah fol...

Kay accepted the pouch of money and thanked the guild employee before walking over to Eleniah, who was waiting nearby.
“Done?” She asked him.
“Yeah, paid in full.” He held up the pouch and jingled it. “I finally have enough.”
Eleniah smiled back and him. “Then lets go buy an enchanted flask.”
Kay led the way back to the same enchanting business that they’d originally gotten the quote from. With this last job he’d finally saved up enough gold to purc...

The merchant that bought Outworlder stuff had actually been really interested in the random items Kay had in his pockets when he arrived in Torotia. Kay had kept his clothes, a few things from his wallet, and his phone that had important photos on it. He hoped someday to figure out a way to charge it so he could look at them often.
In the end, after some haggling, Kay had ended up walking off with a startling, to him, amount of five hundred fifty gold.
A chunk of that money had be...

“Melee weapons?” Kay asked, looking around at the multiple weapon racks in the back yard.
Eleniah nodded. “Right! Since your range is only a few meters right now, you’re probably never going to be much of a medium or long range combatant. If you need to be close up to use you magic, we might as well add some weapons into your arsenal.”
The automatic translation effect had decided to change the units of measurement of this world into the metric system, which made sense se...

“You might as well get Jaira in here, Dave.” Douglas told the Adventurer’s Guild guildmaster. “We’re going to need an Agreement for secrecy.”
“Really?” The bearded man sitting behind the solid looking desk smiled. “I’m interested already. How fun.” The guildmaster turned his head to the side and shouted, “Jaira!”
A thumping noise came from the wall and the guildmaster turned back to look at Kay. “Hello, new Outworlder. My name is David Caruion, and I am...

Seated once again in the comfy chair across from Douglas’ desk, Ky watched as said gnome ran around his office, pulling the curtains closed and locking the door.
“What is going-”
“Wait! Wait!,” Douglas waved his hands around wildly. “One more thing!” He ran back to his desk and pulled out another device of some kind, this one looking much less technologically advanced. It was a small metal contraption that looked like a piece of modern art, with a small crystal sitti...

Kay couldn’t describe what he was feeling. There were no words to describe the sensation. It didn’t hurt, or itch, or tingle, or… anything. It just was. The feeling lasted for what felt like an eternity, but as his eyes opened and he saw Douglas rushing up to him, he realized it had only been a few seconds.
Kay was slumped backwards in the chair, with his head touching the top of the back of it. His legs had slipped forward, and he struggled not to fall off as he tried to right hi...

“Douglas?” Captain Armis’ voice was cold and collected. “What are you doing?”
“Keeping you from killing my charge unnecessarily.” Douglas replied in a similar tone.
Kay kept his entire body still, only his eyes moving over to look at the gnome, who apparently was his savior Douglas’ hand was outstretched in the direction of the Captain, and his hand was glowing the same color as the weapon that was about to kill Kay. Glancing back and forth, Kay took in the muscles...

The building they ended up stopping at was the city guard’s headquarters for the district they were in. It was made of the same stone as every other building in the area and was a large square shape, taking up almost the entirety of a block in the center of the district.
Inside the building they had to stop at a checkpoint. Springcall told the guard on duty who they were and they got through. Leading Kay downstairs, Douglas glanced up as he spoke. “The policy for this kind of thing ...

The room Kay had been give to sleep in was meant as a temporary place to sleep for new Outworlders. The BOA’s mandate was to give Outworlders the necessary knowledge and tools to create a new life for themselves, not just coddle people. Kay was expected to eventually start making his own money and find a place to live for himself.
One of the drawbacks of having a temporary place to sleep was a less than adequate bathing situation. There was no shower, not that Kay had any reason to su...

Kay froze. “What?”
“Huh?” Springcall glanced back at him. “Oh, right. Yeah, I’m not originally from this world either. One of the requirements to be a Representative for the Bureau is to be an Outworlder. That way the people actually doing the most interaction with new Outworlders, at least at the beginning, actually know what it’s like.”
Kay gaped at him, his mouth flapping open and closed. “I…”
Springcall patted his leg. “I know. Truly, I do. But le...

Kay stared up at the building. He’d been expecting something… fantasyish. Something suitable to an international organization that dealt with people from other worlds. He didn’t expect a stone building that looked like every other building around it. It was in one of the better parts of the city, but it looked almost identical to the shop next to it, with the exception of the large sign and wares sitting outside.
“This is where we leave you.” Arlen patted him on the back. “T...

Sitting on the extra horse the Oaken Five had brought for him to ride, surrounded by the five adventurers as they headed down the road, Kay was very glad for the random horse riding trips Noah had insisted they go on over the years. He knew he’d be sore tomorrow, but at least he wouldn’t be as bad off as a complete amateur.
“Alright,” Arlen pointed at a rectangular post made of rock, about three feet tall, driven into the ground next to the road. “Only a few more miles. I thin...

“But we don’t need to fight you!” Coultron shouted, “We just need to grab… Where the fuck did he go!?”
“He’s… over there!” A voice he hadn’t heard yet shouted out.

Pushing off the ground and wiping the dirt off his pants and back, Kay ignored the screen floating in front of his face as he desperately tried to calm down. Eyes closed, he took a few deep breaths before opening his eyes and looking at the screen.
“Alright, in moments like this, it’s best to ask, what would Raph do?” Kay asked himself. He stood there and thought for a moment. “I guess he’d differentiate between what is known and what is just a guess.” Kay closed his eyes ag...

Looking around, Kay was, to be frank, really pissed off at what he was seeing. Spread around him was a fairly beautiful field of green grass, interspaced with nice flowers of varying colors. A few hundred yards off behind him was the start of a forest that kept going as far as he could see, and very far off in the distance ahead he could see the edge of what was probably a mountain. The entire scene was gorgeous, just the kind of place he would love to travel to.
The reason for his ange...

Currently there's not really anyone here, but this will be for anyone who may come in the future. My released book "The Hungering Blade, Eye of Gold Book One" was not my favorite story to write or plan. I had an issue with freaking myself out over my ideas "not being good enough", and then I moved to a different idea, getting only a few chapters done each time before jumping to something else. My wonderful dad chastised me for this incredibly useless approach and pushed me to finish whatever ...
