125 Shoe (and Feet) References

Shoes can be hard to draw, so I thought I would make a reference pack! I also added a small set (20 images) of feet references, but I separated them into their own folders since I know some people just don't like looking at bare feet.

There are 3 different shoes: boots, heels, and low-top sneakers. 6 poses, 5 angles and I even included a set of each without texture. I also kept the legs in the shots just in case it was useful to see the shape o...

Draped Fabric Reference

I wanted to use these beautiful fabric morphs by Jepe and try a different background for this set! I think the contrast is a lot better, but the background texture needs adjusting so it isn't as sharp in future references. I also tried to lessen the jagged shadows on the fabric with a softer light!

The ZIP files below contain 170 images and 17 reference sheets.   There are various poses too, a few repeating, and five angles of each draped fabr...

June D&D Reference Pack

I had to split this pack into two again, so the first zip folder (128MB) contains the individual images, and the second (114MB) is the reference sheets. I'm including an extra Goblin pose where the hand is clipping through the thigh, as I didn't catch it until later but wanted to keep just in case it was still useful.

So this means that there are technically 360 reference images and 35 reference sheets, 5 models (Dwarf, Firbolg, Goblin, Orc, Tiefling) with...

June tests and sales tax reminder!

This pack has 139 images, which includes a batch of unused body type reference, and some lighting and prop tests. Here is a preview of what's inside:

Expect the big D&D reference pack hopefully by the end of this month, or early July!

And finally, for the patrons that might have missed the info about Patreon's new sales tax.

Pack of 300 body type references

Welcome to all of my new patrons! Thank you so much for your support.  💚

This pack is so big that I had to split it into two zip files! There are 300 images in one (125 MB) and 30 reference sheets in the other (109 MB) It has 6 body types and 5 matching poses each.

I do have to mention that there was quite a bit of clipping on three of the models that I had to go in and edit, but it shouldn't be too noticeable! I'll definitely come back to thes...

200 Hands + FAQ/Request

Here are 200 hands at various poses and angles! I threw in a few sets of claws too. This pack has the reference sheets included for a total of 220 images.

I also repurposed an old, unimportant post into the Reference FAQ & Requests page!

Reference Poll & Monthly Tests!

I have a big pack of 200 hand references ready for the beginning of June, but I wanted to see what everyone would like me to do next. As always, please don't be afraid to leave suggestions!

I think from now on I'll be combining the monthly tests if I end up with too little to post at the end of each month, because I would rather give you a bunch of images at once instead of a smaller amount like this. I'm also going to start showing a preview so you know what's inside o...

Another test set

Welcome to all of my new patrons! I really can't thank you enough for the support. Please feel free to leave any requests you might have and I will try my best to fulfill them, but I do plan to make a separate post for that, along with a reference F.A.Q in the near future.

I think I need another month or two to work on the body type reference, but I do have a set of 80 test images to share today that I hope will still be useful! I may just have to redo the models instea...

Hand Reference

There were requests for more hands, so hopefully these will help! I didn't do any reference sheets for this set as the vignette was pretty strong around the borders and it honestly hurt my eyes to look at them side by side lol.

Enjoy!

Female Body Variation WIPs!

These are still very much a work in progress and subject to change, but I wanted to do a set of models with body types that were maybe a little less common to find reference for.

I definitely have to adjust the head sizes and proportions since I used the same base model for all of them, and I might add a few more body types into this set. Any suggestions? I feel like I need to make another shorter model that is in between the first two, and a taller, stockier model that...

Buff Fighter Reference!

Another smaller set for all of you, this time using a pose pack I got recently! There are more poses left in it that I'll do eventually, but for now here are 8 of them. I have something else planned for the beginning of May that will be much bigger. 🤫

80 images + 8 reference sheets in the zip file below! Enjoy.

Buff Training Reference

The grain is strong with these.

There is also some serious creasing that is happening around the armpits on one of the models, but you can only really see it in the last two poses! These poses were modified from a free set by a user named 'squarepeg3d' to fit the size difference between my models and fix clipping. The 4th pose is a little spicy. 👀

This is another test set so it's pretty small (77 images/94.5MB) But please enjoy! 🤍

Sunlit Tiefling Reference

Another test set! This time I played around with the lighting, and tried to render sunlight in B&W. I apologize for the grain in these! It tends to happen more when the light source isn't as strong or even.

I did a few with the hoofed legs and two sets of horns, though the hoofed legs are decidedly harder to pose since I have to make sure the figure doesn't look like they are tipping too much in any direction. If people would like more reference of the hoofed v...

Dwarf tests (and some extras)

I feel like I need to begin this post by saying that I completely understand if any of you need to lower or cancel your pledges to me. Everything is so uncertain right now, and your money should always go toward taking care of yourself first and foremost. If you do continue to pledge though, just know that I'm incredibly grateful for the support.

Here is an early patron only post for all of you! I decided to do a handful of test sets with the dwarf, but some of the pos...

D&D Reference WIPs

I want to start by saying thank you to all of my new patrons! I really didn't expect the reference to do quite this well, but your support means so much to me and I hope these will be useful for you.

I chose these five race to start with because they're my favorites, but I'll make more as long as I have the right resources for them. The goal is to eventually be able to sculpt and rig the things I need myself, but for now I have to buy the assets. I purc...

(Requested) F L E X

This was a request from twitter for poses based off of a flexing bodybuilder! I learned a lot doing these, and pushed the model as far as I could in DAZ (or at least as far as I currently know how to) so I apologize for any awkwardness that might still be visible, especially in the poses that have intense bending and/or shifting weight. I managed to get rid of most of the floor clipping and paint out the weird creasing on her armpits at least.

There are 110 images in this pac...

A New Challenger Appears

I want to start off by saying thank you so much for your support! I will try my best to keep a consistent monthly schedule of 1-3 reference posts, with at least 1 being exclusive to patrons and 1 free. If I can only manage to post once a month for whatever reason, it will be for patreon.

So I made a new muscular model with a leaner, longer body type to contrast the stockier model, both of which are based off of my own Knights. I did a set of 20 test images just to see how ...

New Tier + Buff Reference Pack (97 images)

This post is both to introduce the reference only tier, and a free ref pack! Here's a preview of some of the images:

The reference tier is pay what you want, so if you have a dollar or two to spare, I would really appreciate the support!

I will be making a lot more in the future, not just with this mode...

Another story dump!

A portrait of Alex (I LOVE DRAWING HER SO MUCH) another iteration of that Camilla and Marion piece and a few random sketches I did in procreate.

Even getting a vague idea of how I want the Duke to look is exciting, because I have struggled with Sasha as a character for a long time. He isn't really a major character, but he's very important to a specific part of the story and so his design needs to set the tone for everything that follows after.

More muscular reference (now with weapons)

Since I've been having a schoolism marathon this past week (I've already watched the new Craig Mullins and Nathan Fowkes classes) I haven't been drawing as much. It's been nice to rest my wrist, but I'm trying not to feel too guilty for not having any art to show.

I did make some more reference of Freya's model with a set of weapons that I just got though! I also bought a muscle map and put it over her to see how it looks. I'll be doing bigger sets of references soon,...

Patreon Renovation + Muscular References

Just wanted to let all of you know that if you see any changes over the next few months, it's me updating this page with new info and graphics! I want to organize everything and I might put a few polls into future posts here and there to ask everyone what else I can add to the page. I would appreciate the help, so please be on the look out for that!

After a lot of struggling, I finally got Freya's daz model to somewhat resemble my drawings of her. I th...

Procreate Brushes (continued)

Ever since I got my ipad last year I've been trying to make procreate brushes that fit my very specific preferences and painterly art style. I love medium brushes and while I do use soft and hard brushes when needed, the majority of my work is done with a medium opacity modified chalk brush in photoshop.

I wanted consistency between programs and I just couldn't get the same look in procreate no matter how hard I tried. I've made so many brushes that I don't really like....

Thank you.

It's that time of year when I drop in to tell all of you how much I appreciate your support! It always feels strange to call you 'patrons' though, because so many of you are my friends. I wish I had the time to prepare something bigger and better for today.

I know I've said it before, but it always bears repeating: your encouragement and enthusiasm for everything I do is what keeps me going some days. I remember past comments and conversations with a smile on my face. That pr...

Procreate Video Test (take 2)

Sorry if you got a notification for the previous post! I'm going to attach the video instead of trying to embed it for now until I figure out how to do it right.

The video is short, but it shows how I drew the face studies above (along with some awkward warm-ups and hand gestures)

I'm also uploading the pencil brush I used for most of these drawings! It isn't perfect yet and I'm still working on all the other Procreate brushes, but I real...

Movie Studies

I really want to get back into the habit studying consistently. I stopped doing it months ago and I noticed the difference it made in my work, almost like I was going in the opposite direction of where I want to be. Instead of feeling sorry for myself about it, I just need to start doing it again.

The header is a study I did the other day from, 'Farewell my Concubine' (Leslie Cheung was beautiful in this movie, and so was his performance.) The colors and lighti...

A quick Dorian portrait!

I missed drawing him so much.  😭

This took a little under 3 hours from sketch to finish! I have a headcanon that Dorian's eyes glow the same shade of purple that the Necromancy spells do whenever he casts them, so I added a hint of that here.

Edit: I took down the WIP sheet because it was really bothering me how different the colors looked online?? I need to mess with my color profiles again I guess. Even the lighting in the portrait is wa...

Free References for All

While I continue to learn Daz, I thought I would share all the test ref I make with everyone! No need to credit if you use them as reference in your art though, I just wanted to create a figure drawing resource for a lot of different things, including body types that don't have a lot of reference available. I have a lot more planned (I bought a skin tone builder!) but for now, have these while I work on the models and find a consistent lighting setup.

Still working on the lighting, the level of detail and everything else, but here is a small set of hand poses. There are 36 in total, and I included both the full size of each individual hand, as well as 4 reference sheets like the one above.

As always, I would love to hear feedback!

I'm also working on several new models right now:
